Lovely School Taxes

I don't think anyone will argue with your point that taxes are higher in PA than they are in some other places. Unfortunately, if you want to live in PA right now, these are the taxes you will have to pay. Are the school, and other taxes, spent wisely? You can make good arguments on both sides of this topic so obviously, the correct answer is somewhere in the middle between yes and no. Our elected representatives are the only people that can make any changes to the system, good, bad, or otherwise. It's up to them, the only thing we can do is go to the polls and vote for whomever we think will do the best job at changing the system to a way that is more to our liking. Until then, the only choices we have are to pay the taxes or move.  (Feb 2, 2012 | post #12)

Where do you think they get the money to operate the school systems in MD?  (Feb 1, 2012 | post #10)

Police: Man set fire to impounded truck in Penn Twp.

I'm sure that the PTPD wasn't picking on you, you obviously did something to make them notice you. They have enough real problems to take care of without going around picking on law abiding citizens such as you.  (Jan 18, 2012 | post #6)

Friendly's in North Hanover Mall part of chain's closings

Bottom line is that they're broke, filed for bankruptcy, and have to close locations. Sometimes, the amount of business at a location doesn't even seem to enter into the picture, it's almost like pulling names out of a hat because they have to downsize immediately. I don't recall where I saw it but a news article somewhere mentioned Gettysburg - not sure exactly what was said.  (Jan 15, 2012 | post #14)

Friendly's in North Hanover Mall part of chain's closings

I was aware of that and I'm not sure exactly what their plans are for the future. It's possible that the 63 stores are just the first round and more stores are to follow, possibly closing the whole company.  (Jan 14, 2012 | post #11)

Friendly's in North Hanover Mall part of chain's closings

Hi "Chick", I'm hanging in there! What other way is there to do it? Anyway, I somewhat doubt that this is Friendly's plan. I believe that they filed for bankruptcy before starting a string of store closings. Hanover has closed and I believe Gettysburg and York are, or will be, closing. It's unfortunate in the Hanover case because it is the only place in this mall where you could get a full course meal. The other eating places are only snacks, pizza's, sandwiches and things of that sort.  (Jan 14, 2012 | post #9)

While I agree with what you say, up to a point, unfortunately the law says that a vehicle MUST YIELD to a PEDESTRIAN in a CROSSWALK.  (Jan 2, 2012 | post #77)

Pa. Game commisssion sucks

I totally agree with that but if you don't do something wrong or stupid, you won't have a problem.  (Dec 23, 2011 | post #22)
