Swine flu closes NC school

This whole swine flu thing is ridiculous. I can see where the school boards are coming from, because they have to cover their asses. However, it's not a killer-- Last I checked, just about 1,000 cases WORLDWIDE. Last I checked, there have been 44 deaths from the SFlu. 42 of those were in Mexico.  (May 7, 2009 | post #4)

A lack of oxygen can quickly result in permanent brain damage, and the aspiration of even small amounts of water can lead to lung disease, including pneumonia. Struggles by the victim against the restraints can produce severe sprains and broken bones. Significantly, the intense fear of imminent death and the victim's helplessness to prevent it produces devastating and long lasting psychological damage." The one guy was thought to be one of the main planners on the Sept. 11th attacks. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to suffer. But really, 180-something tries? Try something new, boys. First of all, why the hell are we so concerned with what the hell Perez Hilton thinks? He's a guy (I think) who has been popular for two minutes for, from what I can gather, mainly reporting on pointless celebrity gossip. I hadn't even heard of him until this whole hoopla came up. And 2, I think this girl should be commended for her willingness to speak her true opinion and not be concerned with being PC! Yes, she pissed people off. I am also a supported of gay marriage-- love is love-- but that is a loaded question. Think about it, either way she is going to wind up pissing off a group of people. So she stuck to her guns and went with the way she was raised. It's hard for me to condemn someone for that, sorry. She has my respect, if not my same opinion.  (Apr 22, 2009 | post #630)
