Interestingly enough, I sat in a room of child abuse survivors tonight, and one theme that kept popping up was "triggers ". Sometimes it's just a sound or image for many that cause distress, but in my case with visiting Middlesboro the memories and trauma are so strong that it is dangerous; this was the case when I was 26. I remember sitting at the Woolsworth lunch counter and choosing a balloon to pop to see if I won a banana spilt for 1 penny. (there were various prices in each balloon). I remember playing the big church organ at St. Julian CHurch between 1976-1979. I remember playing Xmas carols in the window of some organ/music store on Cumberland Ave. (Oct 16, 2009 | post #338)
