This quote was taken from an article on the CDC website "What's the Issue? In a period of nine months, a tiny Kentucky county of fewer than 12,000 people sees a 53-year-old mother, her 35-year-old son, and seven others die by overdosing on pain medications obtained from pain clinics in Florida.1" Note the pills came from another state . I wasn't pointing any fingers at President Obama,only calling the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by the name that the population prefers to call it....Could you point to any cases where a Dr has been penalized since the enactment of House Bill 1. If there is any I'd be willing to bet it has the word clinic in it..imo (Sep 13, 2012 | post #14)

Absolutely correct....It's not just people with chronic pain that are being turned away. I've been denied care due to a heart condition !!!! Something has to be done about "patient picking" (Sep 13, 2012 | post #7)

Just what are they SCREENing for? People that are healthy and dont require the care of a Dr? If this is going on now to the extent that it seems to be,just wait until ObamaCare kicks in and Drs are paid based on "Good care and outcome".The cronicly ill will be fired by there Dr's : Then what? Oh my...well I got moved to Somerset from Pa. about 3 weeks ago...To make a very long story ,shorter, I finally got into see an Internal Med Dr. after telling them I was fit as a fiddle.....I was DENIED treatment from 4 Dr,s Due to heart problems and cronic back pain for which I've been receiving meds for ,for 5+ years from my PCP back in Pa. The Dr here told me to "Wean myself off the narcotics" I ask him if I could get some type of help with this process. He refered me to a Dr that only does injection that I'm allergic to. UGHHHH!!! I realize there is problems nation wide with prescription drug abuse, But to just tell a patient with years of documented medical conditions,to just ,BOOM stop taking the meds is insane. Now I understand the stories I've heard about people in my situation, having to find a street drug dealer to god knows what to lessen withdrawals and get some relief from the 11 on the scale of pain.....Was this the intent of this states House Bill 1??? Awww ...yes those must have been the days smoking their best hemp while enjoy a moment relief from the from that injury received in Gettysburg...thank s to an injection of morphine..a short relief. But things "were diffent" money wasn't envolved.... (Jul 28, 2012 | post #65016)

From someone who has been both routs...STAY AWAY FROM SURGERY...Look at the data. If you can find it. Majority of lower back surgeries aren't helpful or make matters worse..My Condition worsened and almost put me in a wheelchair for life. First If you can find a Dr. nowdays that will help with pain control, try that route but dont expect pain free living ever again. You goal should be to make it bearable enough to get some sleep...IMO (Jul 28, 2012 | post #75)
