Didn't you previously post that your parents -- which I assume includes your father -- tried to brainwash you w/Christianity when you were young? How great was that? (10 hrs ago | post #397)

Schori's # remarks: http://www.topix.n et/religion/episco pal/2009/11/bishop -episcopalians-sho uld-get-involved-2 from bucyrustelegraphfo rum: "There are about 100 Episcopalian congregations in northern Ohio. Purdom said churches in cities similar to Galion are going through a similar scenario." The same thing is happening here in Southern CT. (18 hrs ago | post #5)

Do you think Capt. Jack Sparrow is also a "real pirate"? "real pirates" board your ship w/AK-47s and then threaten your life. And for the record, I would much rather live in this imperfect republic than the anarachy of Somalia. (20 hrs ago | post #108)
Spirituality: Someday, Muslims and Christians will get along
"Will the Muslims and Christians ever get along? Sacred text certainly encourages it. The Quran declares: "Find those who say, 'We are Christians,' the prophet declared, because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant." (Surah 5:82) Judging by the number of "men who have renounced the world" killed in Somalia just for being Christian, I must conclude that this verse has been abrogated. (20 hrs ago | post #2)
from TheNational: "The Prophet Mohammed inherited two grand traditions: the Arabic tradition and the Biblical tradition. The collective weight of both allowed him at the moment of having conquered his enemies to exact revenge, kill the men, enslave the women, and take their property as spoils of war. "In fact, we find many Biblical kings acted precisely in this fashion. To be more specific, the Prophet Mohammed possessed both the military and political might to exact revenge, as well as the weight of tradition to have justified such action. "And yet he did not. The Prophet Mohammed, the embodiment of divine mercy, declared complete and total amnesty for his former enemies, declaring their blood and property sacred." Sacred? The Prophet Mohammed divinely arranged divorces so that he could marry his follower's X-wives. (20 hrs ago | post #2)
Economy guts seminary endowments, leading to staff reductions
from statesman: "Like other institutions of higher education that rely on endowments — invested money that schools count as part of their income — the Austin seminary has seen its income shrink. Its endowment dropped 51 percent in value from October 2007 to March 2009 to its current value of $18 million, seminary spokeswoman Nancy Springer-Baldwin said. "'I'm pretty sure this is the worst layoff we've had, and I've been here 16 years,' she said. "Enrollment at the seminary has nearly doubled since last year, but that doesn't make up for its eroding endowment income." Sounds pardoxical. (21 hrs ago | post #1)

It's not just the size of this small town; in the growing Greater Bridgport area in which I reside, both Episcopal and Congregational memberships are experiencing an annual decline of -1 percent; that is why Schori is starting to talk abt getting more numbers into the TEC equation, but it may already be too late. First, you don't control this conversation, and second, I posted that prayer was a petiton in God's name to accomplish the things He wantsNot only is this a non-answer, it's a self-endorsement. What exactly causes you to believe God is a bad father, and that you're a better one? What was your father like? (21 hrs ago | post #392)

700 Clergy and Lay Leaders Call on NY Senate to Pass Marriage Bill
Show me the verse that said Jonathan removed "all his clothes" or words to that effectThat's too easy. 1 Sam 17:38-39 38 So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. 39 David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, "I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them." So David took them off. So when David took off his new "clothes " did he and Saul have gay sex too? They sent warships to escort unarmed international merchant shipping because those FEW "fisherman " are actually pirates and kidnappers who charge millions of dollars to return the lives and property of others. And how Somilia fell doesn't change the fact that it has been in anarchy ever since 1991Unaffiliated voters represent "swing votes"; just last month in my town, we unseated an incumbent Dem mayor and replaced him w/a GOP candidate, even though Dems outnumbered GOP voters 2:1 because in Stratford there are more unaffiliated voters than Dems and GOP voters combined! In an indirect democracey or republic, whomever is elected represents you, whether you approve of that individual or not. (Yesterday | post #89)
