SMOKING BANS VIOLATE PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS
Linda as a nonsmoker who has put up with the nasty breathing of smoke so I can go and be with my friends or having to leave early because my eyes are burning and watering not to mention going home smelling like an ashtray and yes sometimes even feeling sick Get over it.~ We use to have Christmas eve at my Grandmother's when I was little and the majority of the family smoked. Mine does not. I would feel sick and spend Christmas morning sick to my stomach. How is that ok for one group to do something that would effect another group. If that is freedom then I should be able to buy the stinkiest, crappiest smelling perfume and go to a bar or restaurant and spray it all over everyone. Because frankly you are putting a nasty smell on everyone and junk not only in your lungs but ours too where are my rights over my own body and health. I look at it like this. Smokers have been able to smoke and offend for how many years? Now it is the non smokers turn to be able to go and breath. I totally enjoy going out and enjoying friends and music and breathing! So like it was said the majority of the people voted and just because it did not go your way I'm sorry you are not in the majority I guess. We had to adjust to getting along with smokers now you need to adjust to getting along with smoking outside. I do not mean to sound mean or nasty I am just tired of hearing about smokers right and not the nonsmokers. It's like we don't count. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #16)
Why has no one ever mention the high fees the doctors and hospitals charge? When our insurance say they have charged too much for something the doctor/hospital will "settle" for a lesser amount. Why did they just charge the lesser amount to begin with? I know when I had my son I was "self pay" (we had saved for our son) and as soon as they knew that they dropped prices left and right. I was happy but it did make me thank. They will over charge someone with insurance because they have insurance?! What is that?? In my opinion that is where the whole problem is. Champaign Co. Could Get 70 Wind Turbines
OK I do not live in the area where they want to install the turbines. I do not feel there will be a noise issue or that they look bad. But I did go on a website where this house had a shadow constant runny threw the house during the day, the walls, over the TV and in the yard etc. I think that would bother me the most. The house I saw you would not be able to sit in the kitchen or living room without this shadow always running threw the room That I did not like and would have to go along with the residents on that one. I have not decided if I hate or love the new roundabout but all the comments I have been reading everywhere have said nothing about how it is for shopping downtown. parking etc. and JAS_BHS62 is right you are so concerned to get through right now, no one is able to see what stores we have to offer. I would not want to live around the Gwen Street apartments. Or the Mosgrove st. apartments but all in all there is really nothing wrong with Russell street I have lived there. Water street just has some houses not taken very good care of and I have lived in Urbana for 41 years and like I said the big group apartments seem to be the main places that have problems. I spoke with a friend who daughter plays travel and he pays $200.00 and do fund raisers for the rest of the money that is another $200.00 for uniforms etc. but they keep the uniforms and bags etc. so having to turn in the uniforms etc. does not sound right. My son played travel and we had to come up with $300.00 for everything but we also kept everything. We also did fundraisers. So like I said Curious I would ask them directly what all the money goes for and what you are paying for and why don't you get to keep the things you pay for. Good luck. :) (Aug 25, 2009 | post #6)
Four Urbana students busted for vandalizing
Not all parents close their eyes to what their children are doing and some actually know their friends and keep track of what their children are up to. Yes we have some people in Urbana who really make us look like imbeciles. These seem to be the only people the media can seem to find to talk to on camera or put in the paper because the rest of us who can put a sentence together are working. As far as the kids who committed this crime yes they need to pay for what they did or they will just keep going. One of of them as done just that. So yes this crime may not be as important but this was still a crime. If it was your home or business that was vandalized you would want a proper punishment. (Aug 13, 2009 | post #6)
