Government has its limits

Hi Bill, I agree with you although I don't get where you think I alienated my sister. What gives you that impression?  (Apr 27, 2009 | post #445)

Tea party turns out tax protesters at state Capitol

No, your question I received was from a simpleton. There is a HUGE difference. Name calling? Endearing greetings? Better get your reading done for Jr. High tomorrow.  (Apr 26, 2009 | post #159)

I will define liberalism for someone that wants to discuss points intelligently. You make no point...therefore, I will continue to "spew" all I want to...make me stop.  (Apr 26, 2009 | post #154)

A sharp increase in federal funding has boosted the money avail...

Federal Funds = tax dollars = welfare Why not call it what it is? There is nothing wrong with people finding themselves in a bad position and being helped. As for public utilities acting like private entities...well, I guess that is why they call them PUBLIC utilities. They have been overcharging and gouging for decades. If they are public, we should be able to know what their executive compensation is and fire them. Then we could hire 3 $50k a year accountants.  (Apr 25, 2009 | post #6)

Really? Where is your message of love for me? Where is your "brotherly love"? Have you not judged me? You have both lied and been lied to. How is that working for you? Not well at all. Your thinly veiled efforts are apparent to all who read your tripe.  (Apr 25, 2009 | post #441)

So what is your solution? No private companies and total government ownership of industry? That worked great for the USSR! The problem is as The Irreverent One states, politicians somehow get infected with self importance. I mean, What Would Wellstone Do? Oh, yeah. Lie and keep his government job.  (Apr 25, 2009 | post #144)

If I misunderstood your sarcasm, my deepest apologies. Sometimes, I get too focused and therefore dense. I own my own business and once I did that, found myself diametrically opposed to liberalism ever since.  (Apr 25, 2009 | post #143)

With all due respect, Mellers...there are simple solutions. When you say "Most of us are not responsible for the financial crisis we're all having to deal with", you are DEAD WRONG. We elected these Camelot inhabitants that have learned to use this government and tax system to enrich themselves without providing the services inherent in the Constitution. They provide MANY MANY other services (at a wasteful cost to taxpayers). WE created the budget by proxy of those we elected (and here I will say those YOU elected, Mellers). Pawlenty is a true Independent-Republ ican (which means he is an insipid liberal). The fact that he is getting so much press and play from the GOP tells me he is worse than useless and part of the overall problem, no where close to a solution.  (Apr 25, 2009 | post #136)

6th Off-Topix Party

I have lived in NY and LOVE Spam. (Also, Ohio, IN and MO). Spam was delicious everywhere I have lived and, in fact, I had a grilled Spam and cheese sandwich for dinner Wed night!  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #249)

That's right. And the DFL/liberals are so generous with other peoples money as they are government employees or so whiny and resentful of others success they are willing to wreck the economy long term so that they can feel good short term. Now THAT is change you can believe in! Face the facts? What facts? That there are greedy people of BOTH political persuasions? How much of the 12 million Obama showed as income last year did they give up for your precious causes? Exactly.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #129)

Keep sewing other peoples shirts. It would seem that is all you are good for. You are a good little "doom and gloom" liberal. What a negative attitude you have. And quoting such tired statistics. Remember, when you drive through to get your $1 McChicken that someone owns that franchise and you have contributed to their children's future (horrible thought to you that that is). Guys like me "claiming "? I just got back from an out of town business trip where I inked several contracts. Keep watching Oprah (a wealthy business owner) while clutching your Obama (made 12 million last year based on their tax returns) and Franken dolls...and wipe that drool off of your chin.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #128)

I thought women went to work to become fulfilled? What happened to "chick power"? "I am woman, hear me roar"? "Burn your bras"? Before you stick more pins in that voodoo doll of me you keep hanging over your gas stove burner, let me say that my wife works outside the home. That is not something either of us really wants and I am working to alleviate that even today. I believe a HUGE reason for that is the lack of personal ethics and morals in business leaders. I am all for people making money and getting rich, but does one really need 8 homes (all over $500k), 12 cars and 3 timeshares when you could get by with an embarrassing 3 homes, 6 cars and 2 vacations a year while increasing the earnings of those that work for you? Dale Carnegie taught "if you want to succeed, help others succeed". While money was part of it, I don't believe that is all of it.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #428)
