Oh Artie, Artie, Artie, how I missed you so. While I'm at it Artie, here's some more shameless Notre Dame propaganda, at the expense of Bama too. This should make you and Eagle happy. Sorry Clown: ND Takes Recruiting Title It didn't take an MIT mathematician to know that Alabama's recruiting title rested on fuzzy math. The Tide signed 32 players in February which gave them the number one overall class in total points on both Rivals and Scout, but also put them over the scholarship limit of 85... 11 players over the limit. Everyone knew the Tide was going to have attrition from that class and now it's happened. Two players, four and three star recruits Melvin Ray and Destin Hood, chose professional baseball. Three other players, four star recruit Devonta Bolton, four star recruit Kerry Murphy and three star recruit Brandon Lewis are ineligible. That attrition easily knocks the Tide down below or even with the Irish, who've had zero losses because Notre Dame vets recruits thoroughly before signing them, making Notre Dame number one in both average recruit ranking and overall point rankings assuming the math holds. The 2008 recruiting class is Notre Dame's first number one class since Lou picked grass nervously off the sidelines. On the field performance has to follow, but there's no doubt that the young talent base is quickly building in South Bend. Oh it's almost here boys!  (Yesterday | post #4231)

Best team in NCAA Football?

Mike Williams Cut by Titans Third time's a...down the drain. That's the only real way to describe it. Mike Williams was cut today from his third team in as many years. Not the career you might expect from the tenth overall pick in 2005. Although the star USC receiver dropped thirty pounds (down 242 from 272) and demonstrated some improvement in practice, he just couldn't make the cut. Titans coach Jeff Fisher announced Williams' drop from the team earlier today: I just wasn't seeing the production and when you get in a situation where you don't see the production and you have a young group of receivers that are emerging, I felt like it was in the best interest to let him go at this point. Hopefully Mike can hook on someplace else...[Williams] still has potential, hopefully he'll realize it someplace else. I  (Friday Aug 1 | post #998)

"Ohio State will be Great, Next Year!"

Taken from trojanwire.com: Mike Williams Cut by Titans Third time's a...down the drain. Hopefully Mike can hook on someplace else...[Williams] still has potential, hopefully he'll realize it someplace else. I don't know if anyone can really be surprised by this news. After attending USC at the same time as Williams, I have been hopeful that his pro-career would mirror his collegiate success. But now it seems that his greatest accomplishments are fading further and further behind him. So you Trojan faithful, let's just pretend Williams declared for the '04 draft and disappeared into the sunset. Let's remember him for the 2002 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year award, the 2003 Consensus First-team All-American and the CBS National Player of the Year. Let's remember him for the last game he ever played, the 2004 Rosebowl victory over Michigan and the AP national championship. This kid was one of the greatest college receivers I've ever seen. What a sham. I mean shame.  (Friday Aug 1 | post #2548)

The Better Football Conference: PAC-10 or SEC?

They are deep as hell, but they aren't going to outscore a great scoring team. If there's one thing the Pac 10 can do, it's score. They leave the defense to the SEC. Fortunately for sc and that new offense, not too many Pac 10 teams will be putting up 40 points a game this year.  (Friday Aug 1 | post #4194)

The Better Football Conference: PAC-10 or SEC?

It starts pretty big time for him this year Joe. Everybody is expecting at least 7 wins. Even some of the best college prognosticators are saying 8, possibly 9 wins. Bottom line, if Charlie and the staff can turn things around greatly, and this team has another great class, they are without a doubt a BCS contender in 2009. So if they aren't there in two more years, people will be rumbling about Charlie.  (Friday Aug 1 | post #4193)

Keep thinking that Joe. You guys are so lucky the Pac is down this year. This years usc team would have lost 3 or 4 games in last years Pac.  (Thursday Jul 31 | post #4188)

I would say poor player development AND a few other reasons Joe. It wasn't all Charlie's fault is all I'm saying.  (Thursday Jul 31 | post #4187)

The Pac will definitely be competitive only because of mediocrity across the board. Other than sc and ASU, a lot of their teams will be pretty average.  (Thursday Jul 31 | post #2519)
