Blue-Eyed People Have One Common Ancestor

http://www.10000bc movie.com/ http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/10,000_ BC_(film) Evolet (played by Camilla Belle) is the only survivor of a different tribe; one which was killed off by the "Four Legged Demons" (fierce warriors on horseback). While kidnapped, her hands were whipped, leaving a scar in the shape of the "hunter" - a prophesy of the one who will defeat the Almighty. She is unique in that she has blue eyes.  (Saturday Dec 5 | post #1323)

Charities get only 39% from telemarketers, report says

Your Donation: How Much Gets There? You've just been persuaded by a telemarketer to donate $100 to a worthy charity, and you feel good that you helped. But you probably didn't ask a key question: How much of your $100 pledge will actually reach the charity? You may not like the answer. Telemarketers working in New York for charities and non-profits raised $189.6 million in 2005 ? but charged fees of about $116.4 million. The charities and non-profits retained only about 39 percent of all pledges. Charitable fundraising experts caution that you should check the bona fides of any charity before giving them money ? and make sure you know how much of your donation will be kept by the fundraising firm itself. To disseminate basic information about charitable fundraising in New York, the state Attorney General's office publishes "Pennies for Charities," an annual report on telemarketers' activities. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, owned by WGRZ's parent company, Gannett, has created a database of information from all 12 years' worth of those reports. "It becomes very important to get this information out to the public, and to make sure they understand there may be charities that are spending most of their money on fundraising costs," said Karin Kunstler Goldman, an assistant attorney general in the charities bureau. There are several reasons why telemarketing firms retain most of the money that's pledged to charities. Sometimes it's because the charity isn't so much looking to raise money as it is to have telemarketers make contact with lapsed members or recruit new supporters. Other times, though, it's because the charity has knowingly hired a firm that charges a 75 or 80 percent commission. Some experts frown on commission-based fundraising, but small charities say they have few alternatives. The database was extracted from "Pennies for Charities," reports published annually since 1995 by the state Attorney General's office, which compiles information from mandatory filings. It covers campaigns by telemarketers who worked in New York to raise money for charities and non-profit groups; if the campaign was multi-state, the figures reflect pledges from all states, not just New York. The figures, especially the "percent to charity," should be judged carefully. Round numbers, such as 25.0 percent, usually mean a fundraiser is being paid a percentage-based commission. More detailed numbers, say 37.63 percent, usually mean a fundraiser is being paid a fixed fee. Some campaigns return a very low percentage to the charity, or even cost the charity money, because the intent is not to raise funds but to recruit new members or supporters. "Uncollected pledges" figures, which can be quite large, sometimes reflect multi-year campaigns. For instance, a charity may ask for pledges to be paid over a three-year period. All pledges are reported the first year under "gross received," with money promised for years two and three listed under "uncollected pledges." http://www.wgrz.co m/news/news_articl e.aspx?storyid=442 76  (Nov 17, 2009 | post #1)

Blue-Eyed People Have One Common Ancestor

What people never ever understand is, God created the Universe (by using the tools of nature and evolution) then put it on "auto-pilot ". As a spirit, he doesn't sit around like a man on a throne controlling and guiding every little thing. God is a spirit and the physical cosmos is his body. What happens century after century is random... that's what life is, that's existence, good or bad. We've all felt a share of both.  (Oct 25, 2009 | post #1321)
