If that is what you believe, so be it. However you still have a vote, vote out everyone and keep doing it until things are more to your liking. That my friend is how our system works. Vote in people who will work to do away with corruption and if they don't do it, vote them out. I hear people complaining all the time, but when time comes to vote they keep the same people in office, so do something to help change things or stop complaining. (Yesterday | post #68)

Well I'm former infantry now, but that relationship is an employer employee one. It is a different relationship with the government then as a private citizen. As for income tax Amendment 16 does give congress the power to "lay and collect taxes on incomes". So they did in fact change the Constitution to fit what they wanted to do. I have no problem with amending the Constitution, that's just part of the process, it's when they try to pass bills out side of their powers with out amending it, that's the problem. If you don't want to pay so much in taxes you should be for less government, not more. (Yesterday | post #64)

It seems to me that you are confusing a few issues here. Health insurance is not health care first off. Health insurance should be for catastrophic care, it was never intended to cover every little cold symptom someone gets. More government involvement will not help, just look at medicare and medicaid, they pay doctors and hospitals around 60% of the bill. The rest of that bill gets passed on to private insurance company and then on to you. Both programs also are running over budget even when they don't pay the full amount. Now you want the government to step in and cover everyone, how can you look at what has happened in the past and not think the same thing will go on? Even if you ignore all of that, how can you call someone greedy while at the same time be promoting taking others hard earned money to pay for your medical bills? Medical treatment is a service just like any other, there is no right to it. If your car breaks down and you can't pay to get it fixed are you going to try to force someone else to pay for it? That my friend is what sounds greedy. It really comes down to this, every person is responsible for them self, there should never be an expectation that someone will come in and save you from the choices that you have made. If someone one does help you that is great and people should help others, but it stops being charity when it is forced at the point of a gun. (Tuesday | post #41)
Another View: America takes the lead on climate change
What does it matter if in the past wrong choices were made? Does that make it ok for this pledge throwing away $100B a year? (Monday | post #10)

The difference is you are talking about taking care of the whole. Roads and the military are not there to take care of you the individual but for the entire nation. You as an individual should take care of your self. The Constitution is clear in what the powers of federal government are, and as I have said before nowhere does it provide for them to take care of individual people. Is what I am saying clear at all, that there is a difference between "general Welfare" as mentioned in article 1 Sec. 8, U.S Constitution and individual welfare. (Monday Dec 21 | post #36)
Pregnancy punishable for troops in Iraq
That has nothing to do with female soldiers getting pregnant to avoid or to leave a deployment. It has been going on for years and I never once saw anyone get even an Article 15 for it. This commander if he actually enforces this rule is doing something that should have been done a long time ago. (Monday Dec 21 | post #4)

Yes people can be greedy. That still does not show in anyway how it's the government's job to take care of you. Each individual has responsibility to them self. The government is not responsible for an individuals well being. If you disagree could you please point out just where Congress or any branch of the federal government gets the power over my individual well being? It is lacking in the single document that outlines the powers vested in our government. (Monday Dec 21 | post #34)
Global warming likely to be amplified by slow changes
The article talks about climate change due to CO2 millions of years ago. How then do they go from that to saying mankind is the cause of climate change now? The climate is doing what it has done in the past, not because of mankind, but because that is the natural cycle that it goes through. Just like during the last big climate changes humans will adapt and over come. Why should we try to stop a natural cycle of the earth's climate? (Monday Dec 21 | post #24)

Exactly. SS, medicare, and medicaid all show clearly that the government is inefficient and incapable of running a program like this. They only are only good for digging a hole to trow money in to. If people really want government run health care all they have to do is work for the federal government, it's not hard to do. (Monday Dec 21 | post #24)

That is still not a must buy. You still have a choice. You may not like the choices but that does not mean that you must buy it. Still how it is the federal government's job to take care of your health care? What part of the Constitution does it give congress the power over health care? It doesn't. It simply is not the government's job. (Monday Dec 21 | post #22)
US Senators Agree On A Framework For A Climate Change Bill
How can you be sure that it is not part of a natural cycle? The climate has gone through dramatic changes in the past, why does this one have to be different? Just for a minute ask your self if this is part of a natural cycle should we try to stop it? Yes the climate is changing, and yes there is some correlation between CO2 and changing temps, however correlation is not causation. Causation has not been proven, there are too many natural variables and no way to preform a controlled test. (Sunday Dec 20 | post #187)

How is it "a product that people absolutely MUST buy"? If people must buy it then there should be no one now with out it. That being false shows that it is not "a product that people absolutely MUST buy". Is it a good thing to have, yes it is. It however is not a must, and it is also not a right.
