Where's Caylee? Florida toddler drama grips public

Although I agree that the protesters and those who are following the case and want justice are now her little voice, I do not believe that she would want them to be miserable. Adults are only capable of wishing misery and pain upon others. The beauty and innocence of a child is that they are so forgiving and wonderful. We will never know what she would have wanted, that right was taken away from her, but we can know what we want and demand justice for this beautiful little girl.  (Wednesday Sep 17 | post #86)

BREAKING: Appeals court rules 'Crosses' can stay (1:04 p.m.)

For me this has nothing to do with keeping the crosses base don my Christian faith. It is about respecting the CULTURE of this area and appreciating the value that it has. I am a Chrsitian, but this is not the place to defend that belief. This is about the history of this area. It is more than ridiculous for a man to move here, knowing the name and what it stood for adn then try to say that he is being persecuted. NO SINGLE PERSON is forcing him to be a Christian or even forcing him to accept Christianity. It is a symbol that holds so much more meaning than just that and ALL of the native people to this area, no matter what their race or religion, recognize that. He is actually trying to force his beliefs on us and I don't want, nor do i like it. He is forcing our entire community to change to fit him, not the other way around. I am glad the ruling is what it is, and I would envite him to embrace this beautiful culture and history. If he cannot do that than he may possibly be in the wrong city, county, and possibly even state.  (Monday Sep 15 | post #66)

Mr. Weinbum frequents this forum and I am sure that he wills e the comments posted here. I am ashamed that we cannot rise above the name calling and hate filled remarks. However, I am also very glad that the ruling went the way it did. The name Las Cruces should have been his first clue (meaning: The Crosses in case that hadn't been realized yet :) ) Why on earth would you move to such a place knowing the name beforehand. It is definitely more about culture than it is religion and that deserves some respect. Mr. Weinbaum, I can appreciate your own personal beliefs, but stop trying to take away our culture. Whether you like it or not Christianity is very closely tied into the development and basic foundation of this particular area. If you don't like that, you are more than welcome to go somewhere where you can be happy. Not one person is persecuting you, nor are they forcing you to become Christian. Should we also change the name of our city to accomodate you? Instead of contempt, why don't you try to learn to appreciate the vast history here and the historical impact that Christians have had here? Just some thoguhts..  (Friday Sep 12 | post #11)

Sound Off! (Aug. 14)

I could be mistaken, but I believe that the program was intially set up for Spanish only children, but has been revamped in the last few years to allow ALL children the chance to be involved. My son is now in fifth grade and began in first, and their was never even a question of what his native language was. I also believe that it was revamped because it was thought that children would benefit, on both sides, by being together in the classroom together. I know in some schools it is imperfect by I have been very impressed with Highland and Columbia. My son attended both schools and they were both great. I think this program is already undergoing many changes, but in the end a lot of how well these things work is up to the leadership of the individual school.  (Aug 19, 2008 | post #34)

Funny, I have two English speaking children attending bilingual classrooms every single day and have been for the last four years. You did not read a word that i wrote, but instead just tried your best to disprove my point, which you can't because I actually have ENGLISH SPEAKING CHILDREN in the program. The basic goals of this program, although intially designed for Spanish speaking children, is to educate the children of both languages while also allowing them to be an integral part of the learning process by teaching their peers using their native language, whether that is English or Spanish. Most programs are designed so that one day is English only, the other day is Spanish Only so that students of both languages get equal learning time in both languages. Reading and Math are the exception with a majority of the teaching time done in the child's native language. Both of my children are now becoming proficient in Spanish and will be provided the opportunity to be better candidates for any position they should desire because if their abilities to speak both languages. All of this coupled with the fact that i have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and have worked in the schools should be moer than sufficient to prove that your point is wrong and your words have misinterpreted what the program is designed for. It is a great program and i would not have my children in any other classroom than the Bilingual classrooms they are currently in.  (Aug 19, 2008 | post #33)

You clearly have no idea what the Bilingual program is for. It serves those with limited English proficiency, but also serves as a way for English only students to learn Spanish as well. The classes are intigrated with BOTH types of students. The class time is equally divided between Spanish and English teaching/speaking time. The students help each other learn, not only the opposite language, but also their classroom subjects. It is a great environment for students, stimulating the mind and therefor encouraging and facilitating learning. How do I know? I have two English speaking children in teh program. They are both picking up Spanish and doing very well and when they are proficient in Spanish and out of school, that knowledge will increase their abilities to gain employment and open their minds, as a whole. Open your eyes and educate yourself instead of ranting about a subject you know nothing about.  (Aug 14, 2008 | post #9)

Now let me ask you a question... Why do you support John McCain? Be careful now because the reasons why you support, him he has probably changed his own mind about them by now. Good luck  (Aug 9, 2008 | post #2962)

..continued..... I support Barack Obama because, altough he has been accused of "flip-floppin g" he never really has. There are literally hundredsd of DIRECT quotes from John McCain that blatantly show him flipping and flopping like a fish out of water. This footage does not exist for Barack. These attacks came about by the Republicans after tape after tape was shown on the internet and news stations. The only way to dispell the horrifying truth of it was to try to say put that back on Obama, although he never has. I support Barack Obama because he has tried tirelessly to run a clean capaign that addresses the issues that face our country while John McCain has run a negative, hate filled, fear-mongering, attack capaign that has not addressed a single issue relevant to this country. I support Barack Obama because he has raised the money that he needed to make his campaign happen through his supporters, not from lobbyists. At the end of the day, he will not have to answer to anyone, but those who supported him. John McCain will be peddling and spinning to try to appease the nice big checks that the lobbyists wrote him. I support Barack Obama because I believe that change is possible and no just a catch phrase. I believe that he wants what is best for our country and is doing his very best to achieve that. I believe he is looking to make America a better place and has set forth ideas and policies that might actually get us there. I support Barack Obama.  (Aug 9, 2008 | post #2961)

I suport Barack Obama because I truly believe that he will restore the integrity of this country amongst other countries by using a combination of diplomacy and force. i believe that he will not go blindly into the night to chase after weapons of mass destruction that may or may not exist. I believe that BArack Obama will enforce the policies for our economy that he has set forth, which you can easily read on his web site, that will stimulate our economy and put the common person back on their feet instead of struggling to pay the bills. I blieve that he may raise taxes on the upper class income brackets and that, although it might be difficult, it will help to settle our econonmy. I support Obama because I feel like health care and energy policies have been on the back burner of the Bush administration because Bush was more intersted in linning his pockets with oil money and Obama iswilling to take these issues to the forefront to fix them, not just talk about it. He has set forth several ways in which he would accomplish these goals and they are actually more about common sense than anything else, but I guess Bush missed that one. He set forth his goals and ideas in the 20 plus debates that he had with Hillary. All you had to do was listen to one debate, just one and you would hav caught all of this information. I find it VERY hard to believe that noone knows why they support Barack, as a matter of fact I am more than sure it is another lie.  (Aug 9, 2008 | post #2960)

Parents accused of confining children to garage, trailer as pun...

No spanking, no timeout... what exctly do you propose for disciplinary action? As for the yaw family and those involved in this whole mess, my heart goes out to you and the children. This is an awful thing and I hope they can be given a good home in which to recover in. God Bless, my prayers are with you!  (Aug 9, 2008 | post #44)

Something we can definitely agree on. Most "religious " holidays don't have anything to do with the beliefs that they claim to be based on. Easter is another holiday that has been eroded with pagan beliefs and is no longer centered around its foundation, the resurrection of Christ.  (Aug 1, 2008 | post #2879)
