yeah ... i had some **** who'd been bothering me for a while walk into my house one day out of the blue after a friend left & my door had been left unlocked. thank goodness he didn't have a gun and i was actually able to chase him off the property with my big mouth and a knife. i've also encountered bears and other wildlife on my property & walks, and it'd be nice to have a carry permit just in case. i'm not a paranoid 'the world is out to get me' type of person. however, had the situation been worse, it would've taken the cops/staties at least 10 minutes to get here ... and i mightve been toast (although i always keep my money on me LOL) i obviously wouldn't want to kill anyone, but i'd have no problem shooting someone's kneecaps out if i had to ... and if it were a 'me or them' situation, it would be them. actually a friend and i have wanted to take a firearms course before we make a decision on what gun(s) to buy (i live out in the boonies and i would just assume defend myself instead of wait for LE to get here ... and a baseball bat only gets you so far). do you know of any courses being offered within the next few months? what type of firearms would you recommend for women who are familiar with & have handled firearms (we've actually shot a few guns including an AK & Glock). what are the permit fees now? would appreciate that and any other advice you might have. actually i'll be keeping my eyes out for Paul Graubard when i'm down that way ... as i don't want to be in his way when he gets into one of his moods. my CSI skills suspect he might be driving a Subaru VW or Prius. i'll even go out on a limb & say he has Ralph Nader campaign & "COEXIST " stickers on the rear window. darn these liberal hippie throwbacks who work from studios ... darn them straight to heck. thank you!! i was gone for a while ... spent a few months away from the home internet during spring & summer (put in my two cents a few times via phone-net, but it's not the same). been back for about 3 weeks now, active & having fun on a few threads. i missed this joint LOL. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. on a completely off topic note: made my way home at around 10:30 tonight & decided to go past the "mall". on my way i noticed ALOT of traffic on the roads for a holiday night (much more than usual). needless to say the mall was already starting to buzz ... and i got the heck out of there. so if you're out there (ot thinking about) risking your life by either working retail or shopping, i'll just say good luck, have fun, & for the love of humanity, stay home if you're sick. wow. snappy comeback. i REALLY hope that something like this never happens to you. my point WAS that there are far too many people perseverating on the negative of this case, when we should be thankful that we didn't have to bury one of our own ... but i guess it's too difficult to put yourself in someone elses shoes when you're busy trying to get your head out of your ... well ... i'll keep it G rated for Thanksgiving. i guess it would have been MUCH more appropriate for the city to have "wasted" their tax money on a murder investigation/cour t proceedings/prison ... or for her family to have "squandered " their money to bury their daughter. perhaps your lives are so pathetic that an unfortunate ending was what some of you cyber-cowards were hoping for. my view is, there are FAR more wasteful things going on with our tax $$ than this. i'm sure her own family has paid their share of taxes ... think of it this way - they finally got their money's worth Happy Thanksgiving to you ALL ... my suspicion is that there's more emphasis on the "unpleasant " than the "safety" aspect with this individual. i wonder if this man has actually taken the time to look at this roadside memorial closely ... perhaps to reflect & remind himself how quickly life can be taken from us. it makes you think about whether THEY were in a good mood when they left their house that day ... so instead of looking at this as a troublesome sight, look at it as being yet another reason to be glad you're alive. let me get this straight. you're comparing waiting tables to being a police officer? and you said I was in la-la land? that's like making a comparison between apples and a steak. there is a MAMMOTH difference between a 'rude customer' and an out of control drug addict covered in feces (which could very well expose people to hepatitis, HIV & god knows what else). and when exactly does accountability kick in for the addict?? let's see. take the junkie out ... or let him assault and/or infect me (& those around me) with God-Knows-What. hmmmmmm ... wow, you're a civilian. what a surprise. i guess you wouldn't know that it's kind of difficult to don a mask and gloves while wrestling with an unruly drug addict ... it may be their job to serve & protect. it ISN'T their job to put up with abuse that could not only harm them, but the detainee and the people around (there was obviously a reason why the police were called there to begin with.) like i said, show me where i "defended " that cop. since you won't find it, i'll try to explain so you understand. i NEVER defended or condoned the officer's actions or behavior. what i DID was remind a cowardly online lynch-mob of due process of the law & the fact that there is also a family who is affected by the incident. if you were arrested, you'd want to be presumed innocent until you had your day in court ... and God help you if you ARE accused of a crime & it winds up in the paper & on these threads. maybe THEN you'll be able to understand.
