So, we have established Sandra is at fault some what?..8 months later but what programs have been put into effect to try and solve the issues that led up to this devastating evening of events? Not a damn thing. These so called "best friends" that lost their buddies have grieved so hard and long are the ones that are still out drinking and partying. Did their parents not learn anything about holding their kids accountable for their actions? Are they not keeping track of their where abouts so something like this doesn't happen again? If it had hit them as hard as they have claimed then these kids would not be making the same mistakes and parents would keep track of their kids. None of that is happening with most of them. I, as well, keep an eye on myspace for this same reason. Perhaps some of you should be putting the energy you have displayed in these posts into making this community a better place instead of bashing others for their opionions, which they have a right too.. Oswego school locked down as precaution, its Web site says
Excellent part on the staff of Oswego School District to think of your younger child while this situation was happening. I have talked to several parents that said while they were scared, all who was handling the situation did an excellent job. It is nice to know that should a situation escalate that people can think clearly and try to keep our children safe. I am glad to hear your daughter is well (Oct 30, 2007 | post #4)
Will contacting the news make it worse for the child? (Jul 15, 2007 | post #253)

I understand where you are coming from. From what I have been told from Sandra's family is there was no party. Sandra was not at a party with these kids. She showed up at her aunt's house and 4 of the 8 were standing at the end of her aunt's driving calling for rides home. I have been told that she entered her aunt's home long enough to drop off some CDs to her cousin, spoke of one of her children's bday parties and left again to see the kids were still standing there trying to find a way home. As sad as it is and for whatever reason, she decided to give these 4 a ride home. The other 4 had walked down the street towards a friend's house of Katie (who is said to have turned her drinking friend away, this was said in an interview on the news). This is in the same direction as one of the young men who was in the accident's home. (Why he didn't go home since he was 3 blocks away is beyond me.) At some point, lack of judgement..error..what ever one wants to call it the other 4 were picked up. And from there we know what happened. She supposedly was not drinking with these kids. She supposedly was not partying with these kids. She supposedly did not know these kids. These are things she and her family are saying, not rumors I am hearing on topix or off the street. Her family is a wonderful very strong and very close family. I have been told that she was at her brother's house eariler in the evening and had a couple of beers before leaving to stop at her aunt's before heading home. I have no reason NOT to believe this family. I have never known any of them to lie or be misleading. Please don't get me wrong, I am not saying anyone else is lying either. I do know what I seen on the myspace pages before people started to block their pages after the media started mentioning. There were tons of pictures of these same teenagers (and many more) that were doing illegal things. Talking of doing illegal things. I don't feel any of them deserved to die but I sure hoped others would learn from this night and I don't believe that many have and that is very unfortunate. (Jul 9, 2007 | post #138)

While I feel the driver did wrong I don't feel she is a horrible person so I can very easily agree with different opinions on the topic. While Sandra made some horrible mistakes that night I feel the teenagers in involved did as well. I do not feel this horrible night is all her fault. She errored but if those kids were are home where they should have been then they never would have had their chance meeting that night where THEY crawled into her crawled. She did not personal CRAM them one on one into her car. She made the error in allowing them to do so but did not stack them. I will apologize if I came off too defensive but I know Sandra and her family. I know what type of person she was before the accident. I also know several of the teenagers and I know how they chose to act before the accident. Do I feel people should have died? Absolutely not. I would wish that fate on no one but I don't feel Sandra should pay with hers as so many people wish to happen. I am also tired of hearing so many of the self rightous "adults" in Oswego that do no wrong but will go to a local party and drink it up then strap their own kids in the damn back seat. The self rightous "adults" in Oswego go to the Wine tasting event and then drive home. The same self rightous "adults" that wants her life handed over in Kendall County are the same damn "adults" that are doing exactly what Sandra supposedly did that night. They have all just been damn lucky they haven't killed their own families or someone elses. This woman tried to help kids who were out after curfew walking down the street and standing at the end of a driveway because the people they called on their cell phones would not come out and get them. If she would have left them all standing there and someone killed them or they froze to death she would be hunted down as well because she didn't see to it that they got home safely. Hmm.. I honestly can agree with whom I wish. Perhaps they both have excellent point of views that I can understand and agree with. No one is necessarily wrong here. No one knows exactly what happened that night. A lot is hear say..we already know the news media is not all that reliable sometimes. If I want to agree with two different point a views I can. Anyone can have a point of view that can be agreed upon and not agreed upon. I could agree with one part of an opinion and not the rest of what someone is saying but it is my call and my decision. Perhaps Jenna made sense to me then I read the next post and so did she. What do you care anyhow? You have your own opinion. (Jul 8, 2007 | post #131)

I was agreeing with Jenna that not every adult lacks judgement. Read full posts before you try and pick a fight. (Jul 8, 2007 | post #130)

Mom of five, too..you have simply brought me to tears. You just wrote what I have been unable to get acrossed myself. You did an absolute wonderful job in doing so. Oswego/Montgomery,as a whole, has a huge issue in seeing their children have a behavior issue. They all feel their children are innocent. While there are some out there that are, the majority are not. I still see it every day watching some of the kids run the streets behavoring like pure animals in some cases. There are still kids getting busted for drinking and some for drinking and driving. What the hell is the issue here? (Jul 7, 2007 | post #122)

I agree you whole heartedly. I would never, as well, pack 8 people in my car unless I was driving a car/van that held 9 people. I, also, do not put the car in gear until we are all buckled. I neither drive recklessly. Unfortunately, not everyone is like us. I wish they were. (Jul 7, 2007 | post #121)

Other adults lacking judgement have just been lucky. Recently, a sat with a group of adults at Prairiefest at a booth. One adult came with a hangover and very proud of the fact that she had no clue how she drove home...on and one she bragged about her night out, driving drunk. She proceeded to discuss other times where she drove with her own children in the car. She is not the first adult with impaired judgement that I have heard bragging in Oswego either. No one is perfect, by all means, but others but others at risk in this town and many others every day. They just have not been caught or killed someone yet. (Jul 3, 2007 | post #117)

Might wanna make sure you have facts or perhaps say "supposedly " because from what I understand susposedly she knew none of the kids. There was a BIG rumor that she worked with one of them and that has been proven to be false by law enforcement. The "myspace " comments were about drunk bowling and go to Katie's brother's house to get drunk. Not about the party that was susposedly happening in Boulder Hill. (Jul 2, 2007 | post #112)

You punish the kids that survived so they don't do it again. Which, by many reports, a certain young lady that survived has susposedly done numerous times since she came home from the hospital. You also punish those that survived so their friends see okay..it is death or in trouble by the cops if I survived. There are laws for a reason. Those that survived are being allowed to break the law just because they got hurt. You all want Sandra punished for her mistakes. (Jul 2, 2007 | post #111)
31 charged in 22 'cold case' murders :: Beacon News :: News ::
I work in Aurora myself and 3 months ago, while driving to work firefighters were putting out a van on fire. Upon doing so, there was a body in the back seat with his hands and feet cut off. This was 3 blocks from where I sit and work everyday! I completely understand what your saying! (Jul 1, 2007 | post #3)

Congrats to the fine men and women of the Aurora Cold Case Task Force! This is how you take back your city. I was born and raised on the East side of Aurora but had to take my own children away and it broke my heart. For too long the gangs have ran over people. Toss them in jail and toss away the damn key!
