60-39 vote on legislation: Historic health care bill clears Sen...

Seems those wars are still going on. Obama is CIC. He can pull the troops out if he so desires. Instead, he's too busy pleasing his Hollywood constituency at black-tie functions to bother. I've never defended Bush. I initially favored the war in Afghanistan, although I was worried it would drag on, though I never thought this long. Iraq, well, I knew we'd have to stay there once we went in, or hand it over to Iran. The DC sideshow continues to go against popular opinion and spend spend spend to their elitist handler's wishes. The system is broken. Broken. Not only is there the debt, but the amount of money in unfunded mandates (especially as the Boomers hit retirement). I pay for my own health insurance. This plan won't do anything for me, so I really have no strong opinions on it, although I am sure it will do nothing to hold down costs on my end, probably they will go up faster than ever. The federal government is just a giant wealth transfer program to create a needy class. It exists to feed itself. Opting out of the system, and working for yourself, is the way to go in a system which punishes achievement, except the achievement of the elitists who pull the politician's strings.  (22 hrs ago | post #26)

There will be Civil Disobedience and a tax revolt against these people. They can't force us to give them anything, since doing so would lead to an insurrection between the people and the political class. The system is bankrupt and going to crash. This government control game they are currently playing is only going to hasten the situation as millions of Americans cut and run from the thieves in DC. Google "Hayduke Revenge" for all sorts of clever and amusing ways to turn the lives of petty, pompous "officials " into living hells. If enough people do this, ongoing, enthusiastically, the codes won't be enforced. Maybe a massive property tax revolt is necessary to put useless bureaucrats out on the streets (and not in an enforcement role, either). That was my first thought when Officer Brenton was shot, that this was retaliation for the Schene incident. The blogs were running hot and heavy over that one. Some people even posted Schene's home address on the web. A friend of mine in Seattle had her car stolen. After it was found, she could not get the responding officer to take a report. The officer seemed upset that someone had called him to report the car. She asked him: "So you won't take a report, but if I get in and don't put my seatbelt on, you'll ticket me?" "Absolutely, " he said. The duty of police is to serve the community. When they become heavy handed fine collectors, they lose respect. I'm not justifying what happened, but I predict it will happen more and more often as the political class attempts to use its mandate to rule rather than represent. Schene was given paid leave for his beatdown. Now that really inspires confidence.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #2)
