Let's be thankful 2009 is almost over - Hawaii Editorials
Interesting how liberals such as yourself start every debate with "its Bushs fault" or Sarah Palin blah, blah, blah.. News flash for ya, neither of them are in power and its not their fault that Obama refuses to take any ownership of his broken and unfulfilled campaign promises. And neither Palin or Bush are responsible for the economic mess in Hawaii, so your smoke screen has, as usual disappeared into the vog. (11 hrs ago | post #20)

My guess is that I know far more about the draconian tax codes that exist in the Hawaiian islands than you. And there is a very real correlation between increased taxes and decreased economic activity. Hawaii is the poster child for this mentality wherein you all line up like sheep as long as the new/increased tax is sold under the guise of "the tourists will pay it". Tourists and more importantly businesses have figured out that the islands are an economic quagmire and they are turning elsewhere. In a desperate bid to continue spending at record levels, the democratic leadership in Hawaii continues to go back to the well, only to find that it is drying up. You say they have cut. Bologna. Decreasing a proposed increase is not a budget cut. Far more fundamental than the amount of dollars spent however, is the lack of accountability and return on those $$. Look at the education system, the failing infrastructure, the horrible shape of the University system...... I was in Cancun recently. I spent $400 for a small villa in a hotel every bit as nicely appointed as the Wailea Resort on Maui, not per night mind you, but for the week. I didn't have to pay $12 for a beer and the tax on my room and rented automobile did not equal the quoted daily rate as it does in Hawaii. The beaches and water are clean and the residents are friendly and appreciative that you are visiting. Reminds of Hawaii 20 years ago. Keep on voting democrats into the majority leadership in Hawaii, but remember you reap what you sow. (12 hrs ago | post #19)

Uh no, several of his campaign promises were date specific. Others such as being open and transparent have just been tossed by the roadside as he crusades around the planet as the head cheerleader for the I hate America team. (Yesterday | post #185)

Actually, if I had to stand a post, I'd much rather do it with short round, than someone that thinks this country is the root of all evil. (Wednesday | post #171)

Typical deomcratic leadership that is sinking the Hawaiian islands with its greedy myopathy. Dolts like Say either don't understand the correlation between increased taxes and decreasing economic activity or arrogantly don't care. (Wednesday | post #15)
