What is DTE going to do around the Lake.

Here is an update for all residents to the Lake Area. DC Whitmore Lake 8099 update news by Paul M. Ganz Last week, Detroit Edison crews began work on the first of several projects designed to improve the power quality challenges in the Whitmore Lake (Green Oak and Northfield Townships) area. Crews began replacing sections of the 40kv subtransmission lines, as well as the 4.8kv distribution lines on the east side of East Shore between Haley Lane and 7 mile. Other short term ‘next steps’ include reconfiguring the circuit feed to East Shore, North of McNally; and de-energizing the distribution line over the ‘swamp’ on McNally between East Shore and Marshall. Longer term work proposes rebuilding the distribution lines along East Shore, south of McNally and north of 7 mile. In total, this circuit contains more than 60 miles of overhead wires and nearly 24 miles of underground wires.  (8 hrs ago | post #2)

Solar Power in Hartland?

Is Solar power something for Hartland residents and business owners. The incentives are all in line that help make it affordable for everyone. Is it because we need more education on the theroy of solar? Is it because all like the idea of paying the utility company the estimated amount for their use of electricity?  (Sep 6, 2009 | post #1)

High-voltage line knocks out power in Milford, Brighton and Har...

Everyone needs to know that our electricity transmission system (grid) is old and outdated. The area is growing at a such a rate that these problems arn't gona go away any time soon. Those ugly over head lines down M-59 is the first step in connecting substations together for transmission only. The distrubution side of electricity to customers is even worse. We need to further our growth in another area of generation. Remember if you want something done right. Do it yourself. Solar and Wind with a back-up generator or battery system will do just that. Pay know and set your self a return on your investment date. You are going to continue to pay for the utilitys power line problems until the day you die.  (Aug 28, 2009 | post #2)
