HAMPTON: One school short of full accreditation
Agreed SOLs and no student left behind were the wrost moves ever made in education. Now they just teach to a test and have no room for anything outside of that curriculum. It's just a cookie cutter system that leaves out a lot of options. (Sep 30, 2009 | post #8)
HAMPTON: One school short of full accreditation
Well last year when they got out at 2:30 if the student had a problem in a subject the teacher would either have a scheduled day or would stay after when requested to help the student understand the lesson. Now the teacher just about runs over you when you go to pick up your kid. (Sep 30, 2009 | post #6)
HAMPTON: One school short of full accreditation
You think elementary schools are bad? Check out the Middle schools. Since the begining of this year I have been in the office twice and at the school three times. I have been told that if the students are having trouble they are on their own. No after school tutoring because they get out to late. I have heard teachers counting down the days til summer. And witnessed a substitute teacher leave early so there was no one in the class after lunch for the rest of the day. Laziest bunch of people I have ever encountered. (Sep 27, 2009 | post #3)
That is the problem with you libertarians. You are so set on being radically conservitive that when someone agrees with you you tell them they are wrong. You win I can't continue a discussion with someone who argues against their own view point once it starts to make sense. (Sep 27, 2009 | post #290)
Once again you are so short sighted that you refuse to admit that we agree on the issues and the wanted out come we just looking at it from two different view points. What do you have against the government changing laws, lowering taxes, and investing in their work force to attract global business back from the likes of Mexico and Asia? All you have done is tell me how wrong I am even when I agree with you. (Sep 22, 2009 | post #286)
Sorry those things are the suggestions I made in post 249 that you seem to be ralling against. You have to look at the problems at hand and try to correct them. If you are tring to slove a problem you can't always back up to before the problem existed and start over. History doesn't have a rewind button. It is not the place of government to bail out or cap free trade and I believe that they should be bound by the Constitution. But in order to keep this country growing the government should help to grow the free market in trying times. Be it lowing taxes on businesses, softening enviromental laws to allow for cheaper power generation, or helping the unemployeed to survive while they improve their skills so that the country can provide a highly skilled and atractive work force. I also am not opposed to tariffs on imported goods so that we can compete with cheaper labor in less developed counties. (Sep 22, 2009 | post #281)
So you on your own with no government involvement can reduce taxes and change laws to attract manufactureing jobs back from Asia? Well get to it bud. We are waiting. (Sep 22, 2009 | post #276)
So government isn't in place for the good of the collective people? I guess you build your own roads, Defend your own shores, make your own laws. (Sep 22, 2009 | post #273)
A. capitalism and freedom And at no time have I suggested other wise or suggest we do something that would take away from those in fact the suggestions I made would increase businesses and choices for workers. But you have to use the government as a collective over the people to get those things done. No individual can do it on their own. You might want to stick to bean counting. (Sep 22, 2009 | post #269)
Actually if you look back at your post you are the one that said there is but one right answer. Which seems to translate to no other opinion considered (Sep 22, 2009 | post #264)
Huh? No trouble fixing or building things i've been doing it for 30 years. But it might not hurt you to try to design something one time and see ther is more than one way to attack a problem. (Sep 21, 2009 | post #261)
Exactly my piont one simple mind = one simple answer afraid of any outside influence for fear it may distroy the fantasy and drag you into the real world. Stay in the cubicle it safer there. (Sep 21, 2009 | post #258)
