What the hell do car accidents have to do with the safety of nuclear power? In the context of the discussion you can only really compare the safety of alternative forms of power generation. I have no idea how many people have died at hydro, wind, or coal fired plants worldwide. But it's pretty safe to assume the risk to human safety is indeed higher for a nuclear plant. Still, historically, the risk seems to have been proven relatively low. And given the cost effectiveness, and general 'cleanliness', nuclear would seem a more logical option....
