Black flies? Rats? And crime: pick up any paper in Canada. You might find some interesting reading. C'mon fellas. A little originality. Sharp fellas such as yourselves? Let's try for informed commentary. It might be revealing. (Dec 26, 2007 | post #54)

Winnipeg ranked No. 19 in Canada
CapatinC, Does this actually make you feel better about yourself? You have a wonderful sense of humour. Your friends and family must be so very proud of your generous and magnanimous spirit. (Dec 18, 2007 | post #6)
Winnipeg Busdriver on route 77 is snotty
I believe bus drivers might also be the most selfish drivers. Pay attention the next time you are out and about. They block intersections. Rarely allow drivers to merge. When ahead of schedule they'll poke along the road, slowing down everyone else. - grumpy (Dec 14, 2007 | post #4)
Winnipeg: Canada's worst city!!!
I have discovered there are those that have something negative to say about Winnipeg and tend to say it more frequently than those that are positive. One of my passions is my home town. I'm not sure why. I do know there are many other Winnipeggers that share my passion. I also know there are a few that have little use for my city. Since no city is perfect, including Winnipeg, I expect to read posts that are both pro and con. I would just like to see rational, mature commentary. It reads better and is less offensive. What I love about Winnipeg. * Really nice warm people. * Great small-BIG city; big enough to have all the amenities; small enough it takes no time to get "there". * Salisbury House and Gondola Pizza. You just have to grow up with them to know what I mean. * Great people. Mostly. * Smog free. * No traffic jams. Well, only a few. Not worth mentioning really. * The Winnipeg Jets. This is the most popular non-existent sports franchises known to man. * The Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Canada's team. Note to world: they will win the 2008 Grey Cup. * Best Spring-Summer-Fall in the whole world. And winter is "challenging ". * Great arts community. I'm not big on Ballet, Symphonies, Choral stuff. But others are. And we have some of the very best. * A gud edumacation sistem. Real afordabble-like too. * Excellent people. Real easy to meet. Unpretentious. * Very affordable real estate. It has taken off a bit in the last 3 or 4 years, but still a good bargain can be found. * Excellent neighborhoods. * Oh, I should add that the people of Winnipeg are terrific. I just moved back to Winnipeg after more than 16 years in Toronto. I have traveled extensively throughout Canada and the US. Every city has its good points and bad. Some cities are head and shoulders above others. It is difficult to say one is better than another unless you've actually lived in those cities. - grumpy (Dec 14, 2007 | post #28)

If I say a Manitoba judge got it right if I agreed with his decision on Manitoba Métis Federation land claims - would I be racist? I am a little confused over Metis claims. Suspend the "I sold the land given me" debate for a moment. If I were a descendant of the Scot or Frenchman partially responsible for helping create the Metis people, would I be eligible for the Manitoba/Native Canadian land lottery? Just wondering... Finally, a judge who did the right thing. Beware the next road blockade. - grumpy (Dec 8, 2007 | post #42)
Winnipeg: Canada's worst city!!!
I guess I'd rather be stupid, perhaps a little loyal, than rude and ignorant to others with differing opinions. You can disagree with people johnny kaz, without being childish and immature about it. TRy taking a more mature and adult approach next time. See if it works better. It might help you make more friends in this cold hell. Time to grow up kaz... - grumpy (Dec 8, 2007 | post #11)
Winnipeg: Canada's worst city!!!
One of the problems I see on these blogs are opinions presented as facts... For example: Harshest winters in Canada. That depends on what defines harsh and if you ignore the north for example. Did ya know that Ottawa, for example, gets more than twice the snowfall as Winnipeg does? That Edmonton is only slightly warmer, on average, than Winnipeg in the winter? As for meeting people, it really is what you make it. I lived in Toronto for many years. I believed they were harder to get to know than Winnipeggers. Winnipeg is renowned for its friendly people. Perhaps it's not Winnipeggers that are hard to know? I know that I'll never change your opinions, just know that there are colder, less friendly, more crime-ridden cities out there. But if people keep the blinkers on and only see the bad they'll never see the good. Sorry you feel that way, but most don't. - grumpy (Dec 3, 2007 | post #4)

You are welcome to leave. And take your attitude with you. (Nov 30, 2007 | post #2)
I think, Angry Woman, that since you don't care about "saving" downtown that we ought to just give up. Let's abandon the downtown and leave it to cheap discount stores and the people they will attract. Dust will be the least of your worries. As for who cares about ownership, I guess dumpthebay does. But what do you care since you seem to care only about your opinion. As long as it is easy for you to return things don't worry about anything else. Thank Christ we don't have selfish, blinkered people in this City. (Nov 27, 2007 | post #9)
Target and Walmart? That will certainly upgrade and improve our downtown. The Hudson Bay Store was only recently purchased by an American. Not sure what that has to do with anything. Who do you think owns Walmart and Target? (Nov 26, 2007 | post #7)
Does Winnipeg need a Walmart downtown?
That might just be the most stupid thing I've heard... (Nov 26, 2007 | post #1)
