Business is overburdened by taxes like the b&o tax. The towns throughout the coalfields should have the best infastructures in the state from the piles of money that has been the towns shares of the b&o tax. Instead, we have nasty drinking water and sewage running straight into the creek. All because of corrupt politicans, which btw in places like McDowell are always democrat, because it's basically a one party county, like the other coalfield counties. (2 hrs ago | post #39)
WV's biggest economic problem isn't the lack of a right to work law, it's the tax burden. Who in their right mind would open a business here if they can run the same business across the border in VA for half the overhead? I'll put in my 2 cents on this. I have debated with Cookie sporadically over the last few years. When it comes to religion or politics we rarely agree. She has never done anything other than provide me with a good debate. I try my best to live a Christian life, but often fail miserably. I enjoy a good debate, but don't go down the juvenile road of accusations and name calling. Never has Cookie personally atacked me or my faith. Sadly, I can't say that about some others who post. I've been doing great! I just got back from a bike trip to the Smoky Mountains. Rode down there in the rain, and back home in the rain, but had a great time riding in Tennessee and Carolina. I knew you would love riding. One suggestion, get yourself in a rider education course. It will be well worth the money you spend. You may want to wait awhile before tackling that tunnel, it can be very tricky for an experienced rider. If you want to ride here, the best riding is from my area up through Pocahantas, Greenbrier, and Randolph counties. They have a good rally at the snowshoe resort every summer. I rode up there a couple weeks ago and got to see the Outlaws and Pure Prairie League to top off the great riding. I haven't talked to Junior lately. His bike was in the shop, but he's probably got it fixed by now. (Friday Aug 8 | post #44)

I have a friend who was going to the clinic. He finally realized they weren't going to wean him off, so he quit going and went through the withdrawal. Now that part of his life is behind him.
