I have no doubt Sammie Joe, and JCW are the same person. Other than make it obvious to all my comments intimidate you, I don't know what you think you accomplished. I have an opinion and I express it. The post you went off on wasn't even an opinion. I was just passing on info. but you are so intimidated, since I labeled it wrong, you went off. Even though you agreed my info was correct, you were waiting in the wings, ticked off, and you saw your chance. I go out of my way to avoid being too personal and I would never be vulgar. But pointing out the vulgar, I'll do. Here is a part of your post#6 on new Councilman. "Hey Joe! Here's an idea...Stick out your thumb, sit on it and spin, after doing so how about you take those blankets and shove them where a proctologist will have to remove them!" You lack class, character, integrity, manners. Grow up. (Sunday Nov 15 | post #24)

Two city council races on ballot in Grantville
OK, Here is the post. It is post #79. If the city is going to raise fees, doesn't it have an obligation to announce those increases ahead of time? Would that not let everyone know what is coming and give them an equal footing? The "I hate Rochelle club" just lost the election. You lost badly. So is this your answer? Let's wine and cry. Where were you prior to Nov. 4? And if you were there, the majority didn't agree. Isn't it time to move on, do something productive? (You don't need a crystall ball or a college education to see who I suggested do something productive.) (Friday Nov 13 | post #98)

Silly Me" indeed. Your response has nothing to do with my post. I clearly was referring to the "I Hate Rochelle" club that constantly repeats their disparaging remarks toward her. They should do something productive. Not repeatedly whine and complain after she won reelection. Being that negative over and over harms them more than their target. It indicates who you are, and who you are is miserable. By being productive instead, everything in your life improves. The real haters on here aren't harming others as much as they are harming themselves. As far as your post, it has nothing to do with mine. What you said about our elected officials and paid city employees is fine with me. (Friday Nov 13 | post #94)

Do something productive" means different things to different people. But it's the results that count, or at least the effort. There are hundreds of things to do. Here are a few. Help Brother Ed at the Baptist Church with his Thursday AM Food Bank. Call Susan and ask how you can help the senior center. Either of those two can point you to numerous people in need. But hey, if you are not inclined to work with others, clean out your car, read a good book, go for a walk, call a friend. All those beat continuously repeating negative things about people you don't like. (Friday Nov 13 | post #90)

Why the anger? This is a discussion. Differing opinions. We're not fighting terrorist. Anger clouds your thoughts and actions. I'm happy to explain. No, I'm not kidding you. You jump to so many conclusions that have nothing to do with my comments. And you also exaggerate greatly to make your point. I believe the income received this year by the city of Grantville is at a peak. I believe next year the income received by the city (from all sources) will be less. Possibly, substantially less. I believe the council will be forced to cut back on services. That is my opinion. I have no say in the matter. I am only watching the economy. And yes, the city should have reserves. I have complained about spending, not reserves. You clearly defend all the taxing and spending as absolutely necessary. I disagree. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #82)

I have no knowledge to back up or disagree with your assertion. But I do disagree with your next comment. Your desire to exclude any businessperson because one might take advantage of insider knowledge penalizes the city from good governess. Businesspeople create jobs, provide services, and help the community grow positively. All are capable of taking advantage of power. A non businessperson could inappropriately use there power to harass those they don't like or use city workers for their pet projects. This city is a business. Putting non-businesspeople in charge because they are nice or well known , I believe, is a big part of our current problem. Where do you get the skills to lead a city government? It is very hard in a small town to draw the people you need. We need to carefully access the individual and vote accordingly. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #76)

In the near future this council will be forced to cut costs. The city is clearly at a high water mark for income received. And they have unwisely followed the axiom "expenses rise to meet income". The large yearly increases of revenue will quickly come to an end. GA just reported sales tax revenue is down 18% from last year. That is an unprecedented decline. I think this mayor and council would be wise to pay close attention to income and expenses. They soon will join the rest of us, forced to live on less income. (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #73)

My conversation did not mention or allude to Rochelle. But we'll talk business. I have some experience. If your supplier raises prices, you don't respond to that by hiring more employees and starting new programs that cost money. Not if you have to stay in business and live on your income. As a business person you don't have the ability to take money from others to solve your overspending. Now if a businessperson knows the license fees are going up dramatically and they can save that fee by buying early, a smart businessperson will buy early. Of course. It is a "for profit" business. That's how you pay your employees, pay for your building and provide a living for yourself and your family. It's not a charity. How ridiculous to assume otherwise. Your disdain for Rochelle has turned you into someone totally unreasonable. Any reasonable businessperson would have done the same thing. (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #72)
Georgia is a "right to work" state. You can be let go for any reason or no reason at all. Unless you have a contract, you have no recourse no matter how many years you worked. I have no knowledge, comment or opinion on the former employee problems. I do enjoy the dollar store. I think it has been good for the community. A wide variety of needed goods at low prices. Well, I thank you for answering the question. You missed it entirely, but I appreciate your thoughts. The word I have for you is "ignorant ". It's not a derogatory word, but it clearly describes your predicament. While I am ignorant of culinary arts and decorating, I am not offended knowing it. You can't imagine how the city can pay it's bills with any less money than the bloted amount it has taken in. That certainly describes the actions of the 3 in city government behind all the spending and taxing. And they even added employees making it harder to live under their much increased revenues. All over this community people have lost jobs or had their pay cut. It's been going on since 2000 but accellerated since 2007. Those folks had no choice. They learned how to do more with less. They couldn't add on to their expenses and keep spending like this city government did. "Just increase taxes, we'll take the money from the citizens. Pay no attention to the economy all around us, we need this money. Anyone who can't see that is a dumbo". This spending has been completely irresponsible. The 3 in power were either arrogant or ignorant. I don't know which. But the voters just pulled the plug. And if the purse strings aren't tightened up, I'll bet they pull the plug next November too. Yes, I am a dumbo. And you have poor character. I do not call people names or hide my idenity because it temps the weak to behave poorly. And I am weak, as are you. Your also inhibit good discussion with your name calling. But it appears from your numerous less than civil posts, good discussion is not what you want. The constant negative barage against Selma and Rochelle ignors the question, "Why did your guy lose by a 2 to 1 margin?" There was a reason, it wasn't an accident. And it wasn't because we are all dumbo's. You need to figure that our and make changes, otherwise you can stay where you are and rant till hell freezes over. Either way, I sincerely wish you the best. (Sunday Nov 8 | post #63)

You seem awful angry... Councilwoman Jabaley wants to reduce the size of the police department and make it more efficient according to the paper. I do not know her motives. But let's go over recent events. Leaving a council meeting she is ticketed for parking facing the wrong way. (We've all been doing that for years). Then pulling away the policeman notices her license plate light is inop. So he chases her down, backup arrives, and she is issued another ticket. On election day she is issued 5 code violations. Hmmm, is Grantville PD sending a message? And you are angry she wants to reduce the size of Grantville PD? I wonder if that falls in the category of "cause-effect "? I think there are a few other stories too but hey, if it's that cause-effect thing, that's nature, same today, same tomorrow, always will be..... Let me put it another way. You keep kicking a guy in the butt and he is going to look for a way to get you to stop. (Thursday Nov 5 | post #39)
