The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism)
Film documents Mormon role in gay marriage debate
rdg1234 said "I am not interested in your tolerance and my guess is that they are not, either. Things have gotten pretty serious. The "church" is now releasing declarations on supposedly "moral" grounds in which they are *LYING* about gay people. Have you checked your ten commandments recently? Do you have the slightest idea how evil this entity has become? Like pharisees, they *stand against their fellow human beings*; like demons, they will do anything, including sin outright and publicly, to get their way." this might shed some light on the matter: http://mormonthink .com/lying.htm having an intelligent discourse is impossible with the mormons as without truth there is no possibility of honest debate. Their stratagies have worked for many years. That's why they are so powerful. The good news is that with theinternet they have nowhere to hide :) Get informed and get involved. Groups like this that share a common delusion of knowing what is best for everyone on the planet are a constant threat to individual freedom. (3 hrs ago | post #90)
LDS Apostle, Oaks, Speech on Religious Freedom Given at BYU-Ida...
No Surprise said "You know Smurf, your no better then the person purporting a rumor that is not based on fact, which is being purported to cause blame and shame, etc., from an unfounded base. Your link was interesting. But as usual, the link did not contain an actual copy of the actual letter so that people could at least see the original writing that is said to exist. The source of the link calls themselves Christians yet they see nothing wrong with being rumormongering Christians. " Not claiming to be christian myself does not mean I have no familiarity with the various sects that call themselves Christian. What I have found is that most of the Christians consider truth to be essential in living a Christian life. Here is the mormon idea of a Christian life: http://mormonthink .com/lying.htm So you want proof? Is that it? Well look it up if you are really that interested! It isn't hard! Are is this just harassment ? It would have been quicker for you to track the letter down than imply, again, that I am lying. rumor mongering ? the rest of the world sees the mormons a little differently than you do. Like all myth based patriarchal religions that deny the egalitarian nature of the Cosmos, the days of the mormon empire are coming to a close. Your constant insults on topix are no different than the insults of those who actually call themselves mormon, but it does help people to see what kind of character the mormon teachings produce. Atheism requires as much faith as religion?
The InnKeeper said "I don't know, I always viewed the "one Nation, under God, indivisible" part as the high ideal that we, as a nation, should aspire to. I understand that this might not translate well to atheists, but remember, it was not predominently atheists that founded this country." "The Pledge of Allegiance to the United States is an oath of loyalty to the republic of the United States of America, originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892. The Pledge has been modified four times since then, with the most recent change adding the words "under God" in 1954. " from: http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Pledge_ of_Allegiance The founding fathers were "Deists" not Christian. They saw the insanity of mixing church and state and the resulting horror of the dark ages. This is why we have a Constitutional Republic, to insure that this does not happen again. This Country is founded on the concept of "Individual Freedom" not freedom for the church to enforce biblical laws as was done by many theocracies throughout the centuries. The part that was added in 1954 was slipped past the legislators by by fundamentalists that wish to return to a theocracy. (and politicians who valued the vote more than personal integrity) (3 hrs ago | post #7089)
karen gosling said "Grandpasmurf ..On Quote of Chinese Master..."He who knows does not say, He who says does not know" Doesn't mean he is right. I cant agree with this statement, I find this quotation cryptic and a bit silly billy...his quotation is wrong by telling us this and, if he is right, we shouldn't be in conversation, now? I do agree with the rest of your comments grampasmurf" Well, to put it in context, it is found in the book the "Tao Te Ching" which can be found online here: http://academic.br ooklyn.cuny.edu/co re9/phalsall/texts /taote-v3.html What the author is trying to point out is that our true nature and relationship to the rest of the cosmos can be realized but can not be put into words. You see, the true nature of consciousness is infinitely holistic. This is a mathematical concept that was not realized until 1947 and not until the laser wasable to provide a coherent light source was a demonstration even possible. When Dave Bohm recognized the hologram as close to the model of the Cosmos that he was working on he came up with the term "Holomovement " to describe the functioning cosmos. Here is a little bit about his work: http://www.bizchar ts.com/stoa_del_so l/plenum/plenum_3. html Even today it is impossible to convey the experience in words but at least we are beginning to understand the nature of the experience somewhat. I hope that I made it a little clearer :) remember mysticism is something that is confusing to those who have not experienced the true nature of our existence. Once you have had the holistic experience of infinite unity with all that is, the Cosmos is still the same as it has always been but your apprehension of it and your place in it has dramatically changed. Here is a short and simple meditation that I developed for myself in consideration of the formative years of my childhood being exposed to fundamentalist teachings of fear of introspection: http://grandpasmur f9520.wordpress.co m/2009/06/06/wakin g-up-a-simple-medi tation/ (7 hrs ago | post #55)
I also was at the wedding. I am sure that most of his conservative friends will not speak out nor will the grooms but the brides friends were a motley assortment that is totally unpredictable ! :) None of us is perfect. We all have strengths and weaknesses. I am sure he had friends but he appears to have hurt a lot of people by pretending to be something that he was not. There are those defending the Judge and those attacking him. He was a human being in a difficult position he should not have been in. His position was indicative of the dangers of the insanity of the Patriarchal Religious Military Industrial Complex and it's mentality of elitism. Lake County politics are played just like the good ole boysin national politics do. If you look at the amount of empty hard liquor bottles coming out of Bohemian Grove every year you get an idea of the crowd that lubricates the wheels so to speak. Lake County is no different. If you are interested in dismantling this insane structure while we still have a planet I have assembled a short text file here: http://grandpasmur f9520.wordpress.co m/2009/07/06/disma ntling-the-antichr ist/ (11 hrs ago | post #170)
Mormon leader: religious freedom at risk
Pauilis said "We're all sinners. Romans 1:23 " To sin is to miss the mark. Like when your child has a goal of emulating the adults around her and tries to walk. At first she misses the mark. Do we throw her in hell when she repeatedly falls down? Of course not! That would be insane! We repeatedly encourage her to stand and try again! Since sinning is falling down, missing the mark, and so on, you are correct. What is important to realize though is that it is through missing the mark "sinning " that we evolve in our individuality. We learn by missing the mark as much as we do by hitting it. This universe is kind of like a nursery. The predatory nature of it is one of our teachers. We than should recognize sin for what it is and continue on learning to walk with LOVE as our guide. The hellfire doctrine and other myths of damnation are precisely that. thank you for sharing. What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
Clark Griswold siad "I enjoy reading your comments Grampa. And I also found your website to be an interesting read. Just wanted to mention one thing... I notice that you hand quote others comments a lot. Not sure if you're aware of the reply butto" Thanks, I do it manually as it is quicker usually since I like to only cut and paste the part of the post that I am responding to. I have been doing this for a year this month and it has become a rapid habit. I like your avatar by the way. I always thought that the humor of Chevy Chase was interesting. Sort of like emotional karate :) (12 hrs ago | post #228)

mormon said "And everyone here needs to lay off the Mormons.....Someda y you'll know we are right. " Ah....yes... the someday scam. Really draws in the suckers doesn't it! Well for those who are tired of wars being fought over someday threats by various religions there is a logical alternative. Simply wake up to your true nature! Why wait? Even Jesus said that heaven is within you. How can you know if you refuse to look? Here is a simple meditation that was useful to me after coming out of a fundamentalist religion: http://grandpasmur f9520.wordpress.co m/2009/06/06/wakin g-up-a-simple-medi tation/ really it is just about waking up to what you already are! Some must pay for their sins and immoralities in hell for a set amount of time but hell is not eternal." well,,... perhaps you skipped a page in your studies :) "Muslim Beliefs about the Afterlife Like Christianity, Islam teaches the continued existence of the soul and a transformed physical existence after death. There will be a day of judgment and humanity will be divided between the eternal destinations of Paradise and Hell. " this is from this url: http://www.religio nfacts.com/islam/b eliefs.htm Islam makes the claim of being a peaceful religion but their insanity is just another variation of the Patriarchal Hierarchical religions that have people cowering in fear of damnation by a wrathful and capricious god. Why said "And have been for some time now because I am not even premitted to discuss the problem with out those many who supposedly represent Allah rushing to trample all over those children to get to me, and bash me as a hater. No love for those children, Oh no no mercy for those children oh no, " I won't be so trite as to say that I feel your pain, but I too feel great pain when observing the insanity in the world today. Perhaps this stanza from the song "Don't You Feel Small" by the Moody Blues will help you to accept what is happening and free you to help those who need it: "See the world Ask what's it for, Understanding, nothing more, Don't you feel small, It happens to us all." When we engage in introspection we find a lot of interesting realizations concerning the suffering in the world and of course the suffering that we personally endure. In China there was a mystic called Lao Tzu who said "Heaven and Earth are ruthless and treat the people as straw dogs, The Sage is also ruthless and treats the people as straw dogs" While I enjoyed reading the book, "The Tao Te Ching" from which this quote is from I was bothered and confused by this one statement. For many years this one phrase kept coming back to me. What could it possibly mean? Eventually I learned that this predatory universe that we are born into is just as the Moody Blues said in their song, here for us to grow and understand who we are. So how do we grow and what do we need to understand? We grow in our capacity to LOVE. We need to understand who we are as individuals. A very big problem that we are facing today is the false religious teachings that mislead people into thinking that there is a god who picks and chooses who will attain immortality and who will not. Some churches teach immortality but than introduce a nightmarish concept of eternal hellfire which logically has encouraged atheism here in the west. Most, if not all, of these religions are of a patriarchal hierarchical nature wit a violent and wrathful god at the top and women at the bottom with opportunities to rise in the ranks for the men who comply with the structure. The Cosmos is egalitarian in nature. The egalitarian LOVE that is the birthright of each and every one of us is what we all need to recognize. To hasten the time when the human family can be truly united in the natural state of LOVE that we already share on a deep subconscious level it would help to dismantle the Patriarchal Religious Military Industrial Complex which is encouraging the separatist religions while making obscene profits from providing the tools of the wars that are caused by the false religious structures it encourages. Here is a safe way of dismantling this insane edifice that is tearing the human family apart: http://grandpasmur f9520.wordpress.co m/2009/07/06/disma ntling-the-antichr ist/ (Friday Nov 20 | post #20)

Pahoran said " Beautiful wrote: The church itself opened the can of worms by placing blame in its so-called apology, so let's address it head on instead of deflecting it. Indeed. And let's address it based upon actual *facts*, and not mere spiteful guesses based upon what a hard-line Mormon-hater surmises someone "would have" done." Well,,,,... here is an interesting account of a letter found in a cornerstone of a building in Utah: http://www.saintsa live.com/mormonism /murder.html I suppose letters like this will tend to pop up from time to time :) and of course the church will attempt to defame anyone connected with such discoveries. Mormon leader: religious freedom at risk
Beautiful said "But then again, the prig known as Pahoran (aka Alby) could also be a bishop himself, a member of the seventy, or even - Elohim in Kolob - a Profit, Averter, and Obfuscator known as one of the quorum of the twelve. Wouldn't THAT be interesting... " well, I suspect that he or she is simply a dedicated and brainwashed mormon making points with his ward by logging hours on topix defending the insanity of the church. I have only been focused on the mormon issue for a year this month, and I have observed a similar strategy used by all of the defenders of the church. It's almost like they have their own troll school :) I notice that when the discussion gravitates towards blood atonement or the Mountain Meadows Massacre that reinforcements are usually called in. I really feel that these two key points are the Achilles Heel of the organization, which is why they resort to such insane tactics in their frantic effort to discourage any thread discussing these two points from really getting non-mormon attention. 'Islam not responsible' for Fort Hood massacre - US imam
thinking said "It was religious oppression that ultimately founded this nation. Simply because someone believed different they were persecuted. I believe in god. Muslims believe in their god, Allah. The killing of innocent people is wrong regardless of which god you worship and just because some idiot yelled out before he comitted this act, the muslim belief is not responsible, just the man. If you were singled out just because of your belief, you would consider that wrong. There are good people and there are bad. The good should not have to carry the heavy burden of the wrong doings by bad people. " Perhaps there are no "BAD PEOPLE". Perhaps there are only bad thoughts that when taught to innocent children turn them away from their true nature and each other. This is the problem of religions that teach of good people and bad people. The true nature of the Cosmos is LOVE. this is what we are slowly learning here on earth. The biggest obstacle in our path to realizing our true nature as individuals and as an infinite family of LOVE is the Patriarchal Religious Military Industrial Complex. Here is a safe way of dismantling this evil structure that is preventing us from coming together as the family that we already are in the deepest part of our consciousness: http://grandpasmur f9520.wordpress.co m/2009/07/06/disma ntling-the-antichr ist/ (Friday Nov 20 | post #505)
Pahoran said "I'm sorry you found it insulting; but frankly if you can't see the irrational hatred in Smurf's posts, then you aren't taking much notice. " well, Pahoran, have you looked in the mirror? To protect and justify the killers as you are doing, is that rational? To lie about facts to protect your beloved prophet Brigham Young, is that rational? I am very rational. I am also very disturbed that your church can murder 120 innocent people and seemingly get away with it. To add to the problem is the arrogant attitude and lies that have been observed by many more than just myself. I am posting here intentionally to warn fellow human beings of the madness that you and your fellow mormons have demonstrated and the danger of your avowed mission to replace our constitutional republic with your Prophet and his gang running the show and calling it a "Theodemocrac y" I consider it a very rational and well thought out act to be here posting what I do.
