Forget Route 11

Ditto. In addition, we need Fix It First legislation like NJ passed. Ct is sooooooooo behind. And BTW CT spends $.94 per person on bike/ped facilities when the national average is $1.33 and our neighboring RI spends $7.33.  (Jul 11, 2008 | post #29)

Forget Route 11

Typical ConnDOT decision. I thought things might change with the new commissioner but it is same old mindset --let's pave over the state.I hear they are even re-thinking Super 7.  (Jul 11, 2008 | post #25)

Documentary "Under My Skin" looks at chronic Lyme Disease

The test can be false negative/positive so it "proves" nothing. There is no definitive test for Lyme and that is the problem.  (Jul 5, 2008 | post #12)

Documentary "Under My Skin" looks at chronic Lyme Disease

I had the classic bulls-eye on my thigh 3 summers ago. I was treated with antibiotics but I have never been the same since. I take 2 750 mg of Nabumetome, an anti-inflammatory, every day. With this and stretching exercises, I can function -- mostly. I am positive I have still have Lyme but I test negative. God knows what all this Nabumetome is doing to my stomach and liver but without it, I can barely get out of bed and even the bottoms of my feet hurt.  (Jul 5, 2008 | post #11)

Whispers get loud around Michelle Obama

That comment has nothing to do with what I wrote -- just a snide and erroneous "take" on liberal.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #1624)

Whispers get loud around Michelle Obama

Reading these comments has been a depressing experience exceeded only by the hateful, crude emails I have received from Republican acquaintances whom I no longer consider friends. The latest making the rounds on the internet is a picture of a chimpanzee with puckered lips and flailing arms next to Michelle Obama at a lectern digitally enhanced to resemble the Chimp with a caption "Our next First Lady????" This is one of the milder ones and considered "funny" by the mentally-challenge d Republicans who pass it on. This sort of sick, insidiously destructive "humor" makes me proud to be a liberal. Why do conservatives always take the low road? As a nation, we are appalled by the "Swiftboat " tactics -- fool us once, shame on you;fool us twice, shame on us. Well, we've gotten smarter; those smear tactics won't work this time. It's one of the main reasons Republicans are being voted out of office. Americans are sick of the nastiness but the Republicans just keep rolling out the crude and I don't mean oil -- that's how they pay for it.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #1615)

I can't believe the hate and racist remarks you people have posted. I think some of you must be Republican operatives who volunteer or are even possible paid to post lies and negative comments about Obama on the Internet. That is exactly what happened in the last 2 campaigns under Carl Rove's evil leadership. And, oh, by the way, McCain just hired all the old Rove crew for his campaign. He will do anything to win. But what else can you expect from a man who dumped his wife in a nano-second after she was seriously injured in a car accident to marry his millionaire lover.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #1551)

State Residents To See Hike In Electric Bills

Gee, and I thought deregulation was supposed to bring prices down. And we keep re-electing these nitwits. Every legislator who voted for this should be thrown out of office, they are either too dumb or too crooked to be there.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #15)

The Cost Of Sprawl

A multi-use trail along the Merritt ROW has always made sense but even more so now that filling your gas tank practically requires a bank loan. And it is not just a recreational facility (though that is important) but a vital commuting corridor. And it could be an incident management tool for rapid response to accidents along the Parkway. We hope the new ConnDOT Commissioner recognizes the true value of bike/ped facilities in the broad transportation picture and supports allowing use of the Merritt ROW for a trail. The Merritt Parkway Trail Alliance has been pursuing this permission since 1991.  (Jun 27, 2008 | post #127)

Simsbury Panel Seeks Funds For Road For Bikes, Walkers

The ECG is more than just a fun trail, it is a potential commuting corridor. Everyone needs to write Gov. Rell to put the money allocated by the legislature on the bonding agenda opr it will be lost.  (Jun 11, 2008 | post #10)

Interchange input

Everyone should also be aware that the neither of the designs, old or new, provide accommodation for the proposed Merritt Parkway and Route 7 multi-use trails. Retrofitting the interchange would be costly, but incorporating trail access from the get go would mean an insignificant increase to the $125 million that is the estimated price tag for the redesigned interchange. Considering that we should be doing everything in our power to get people out of their cars and using alternate forms of transportation -- not to mention that economists are predicting $10 a gallon gas in 2 years -- it is outrageous that the ConnDOT continues to refuse use of the Merritt right-of-way for a trail and totally ignores the proposed trail when making multi-million upgrades to the Parkway with tax payers dolllars.  (May 6, 2008 | post #2)

CAUCUS POLITICS FROM CT TO DC

My mother's neighbor got her cheating husband passed-out-drunk and then glued his you-know-what to his leg with Crazy Glue. If I had Silda's email, I'd suggest trying that one on Eliot.  (Mar 12, 2008 | post #1)

Fairfield environmental battle gets tense

The development sounds like it might be good for the town. But when politicians act in secret it is time to be concerned. Even when all is aboveboard one thinks: what are they hiding?  (Jan 26, 2008 | post #8)

Fixing broken DOT won't be easy task

Many governors have tried to change the bureaucracy at the DOT all have failed. Governor Rell has made more progress than most. Let's wait and see what the national search brings. If her selection of DC Martin is any indication, it will be a positive change.  (Jan 22, 2008 | post #1)
