Anybody who is not loyal to Australia is not Australian. There are so many who like to bite the hand that feeds them it's no wonder Aussies have become 'racist'. FAR11, I never said "nothing means nothing on Topix" at all. Written words can be a very powerful tool no matter who writes them or where they are read, but some are more powerful than others coming from different people. If Righty had written your comment I wouldn't have taken any notice at all - it was because it came from you I took exception to it. That means, what you have to say "must" mean something. Many mis-understandings have been born from written words. At no time have I ever done any American bashing in any thread - my father was American so why would I want to??? Topix Aussie Forum is a very destructive place at the moment. I'm sorry you took my reply to you as a "lecture ". I was addressing the points I felt were not very fair in your comment, nothing more. As for this. "I don't have to wonder which side of anything you're on, it's always subject to change anyway." I don't know what you really mean by that, but once I have made a commitment to something I believe in, I seldom change my mind...but as you don't know me at all, your opinion is only just an assumption. And don't be so sensitive to think that I am targeting you for some imagined reason, I'm not. My point was only to correct a few mis-conceptions you seemed to have. FAR11, That has to be one of the saddest posts I've read in this Forum yet, mainly because it came from you. I'm disappointed that you have that attitude because it's based on the shit that has gone on in these threads, and you are putting a whole race of people down because of the few POS nasty trolls and spammers who appear to not be Australian at all. To address your statements: 1...There is no such thing as "friends " on the Internet - we all can only be friendly acquaintances as we have to rely on the written word to work out what a person is like in 'real life', and that leaves a lot to be desired...you don't 'really' know that person although you can get a fair idea. 2...I doubt very much if PF thinks "anything Aussie is better than sex" at all. She is excited about her trip to Oz and seeing her guy, and to read anymore into that is just downright patronising. 3...REAL Aussies would be receiving what she says just as she says it, no more, no less. If she's copping any flack, it's probably from the hateful trolls, and we've all copped it from them. 4...Get one thing straight right now, we do NOT blame her - "American girl" - for "EVERYTHING that's wrong with the world", and why would we? Why on earth would you say such a stupid thing??? And what do you mean, if she mingles with "us" we'll NEVER forget she's American??? And what are you suggesting by saying "THEY NEVER WILL" forget, as if it's some sort of an ominous threat? Why would we want to forget that she is American anyway? Why would SHE want to forget that also? It is not a requirement to drop your Nationality or your accent to exist in Australia you know. Is there, in your mind, some stigma attached to being an American in Australia that we don't know about, just like there's a stigma attached to being Canadian in America? Something you need to know about Aussies FAR11, we usually call it as it is, and one thing we dislike intensely is people [of any race or colour] who skite about themselves and what they own. It's one thing to be proud of your achievements, it's another to blow your own trumpet about how good you are. We'd prefer somebody to do that for us as we are generally not braggarts - that past-time's reserved for people who think they have something to prove to others. Sadly, that's another of America's lesser attributes which Aussies are slowly adopting - if it doesn't involve you, don't get involved. Very little left of looking after your fellow man or being concerned about another person anymore. Or may-be it's just the imports who follow that trend.
