Ms. Marcum Ma'am, I never said that anyone was taking food from the pantry. I know that the people who worked in that pantry were dedicated people. I've known Clara Sifers from years along with other members of her family and they are good people. Her efforts with the pantry should be highly commended. Soldier! If what you state is true, this is a disgrace. Politicians should realize that there will always be someone to criticize them. It seems that this food pantry has been run successfully for 3 years under the supervision of Ms. Sifers and whether she likes the mayor or not, should not even be an issue. This is a great disappointment. Mr. S. King seems to be very insensitive to many of the citizen's issues such as hunger. I would say that the citizens should remember the actions and comments of this person when election time arrives a few years from now. Until then, keep close tabs on his actions. One comment shouldn't condemn a councilman but wasn't this the same councilman who was in the middle of some real estate controversy? I can see a pattern developing and it isn't a good one. Ms. Sifers, I am sure that there are many good citizens who applaud your efforts and if the story is true about the mayor's comment, he should be ashamed of himself. (May 16, 2008 | post #272)

It seems to me that you are extremely sensitive to any concerns that might arise pertaining to your postings. It is hopeful that you are not a member of this congregation because calling people names is certainly not viewed as a very Christian-like action. Why would you place your child on a board? Water-boarding has been found inhumane, now who is the wacko? Are perishable items included in these hand-outs? If they have to wait too long in line, will these foods spoil?
