Web feature: Divorced in New York
Actually, you've got it all wrong. The attorneys and the New York Bar Association fully support changing the law to allow no-fault divorce. The Catholic Church and some women's groups are the ones opposing the change. Not even lawyers like the nasty system in place in NY now. (Jul 14, 2008 | post #7)
Doctor: Social networking sites skew kids' world view
No harm on being on line for hours? How about to Americans ever-widening backsides? Chatting on-line and the snacking that can go along with it isn't exactly healthy. And have you see the messages people send? The "ancient art of writing, spelling and punctuation" is being totally lost these days, not enhanced. Am I misunderstanding the irony here? Try actually reading the constitution for a change: Article IV: Section 1. Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. . . . That means a valid civil marriage from California or Massachusetts should be considered valid in New York. (May 30, 2008 | post #34)
Some arrested for DWI decry 'Wall of Shame'
The people arrested for DWI really have no expectation of privacy. Yes, they are innocent until proven guilty, but in this country, the courts are open. With few exceptions (child victims, **** anyone can go into any courthouse and watch the proceedings. (May 29, 2008 | post #253)
Don't annoy me, says ex-cop LIRR rider from Long Beach --...
Throwing coffee is way over the top, but I understand the frustration of having to hear people bellow endlessly into their cell phones. What I don't understand is why these people want everyone in the train to hear their business? I sure as hell wouldn't. (Apr 9, 2008 | post #262)
Religiously symbolic fence sought for East End -- Beach V...
I agree with LIer. Isn't it a bit hypocritical to have these fences? It's just like putting timers on lights to make them go on and off without having to be touched on the Sabbath. Either follow the religion or not but don't wiggle around the rules. (Apr 3, 2008 | post #27)

87 SUNY Old Westbury students evicted over grades
Great policy! The kids who can't even manage to get a 2.0 (a C average!) must be spending too much time partying, playing video games, etc. They shouldn't be around to distract the kids who actually want to learn. (Feb 12, 2008 | post #14)
Obama exhibits honesty about drug use as a youth
As a Democrat, I had a tough choice this year in the primary: I could vote for Ms. Un-electable or Mr. Really Un-electable! C'mon, IS Obama really electable come November?? Honestly (for fear of being called a racist) I think not. I'll vote for Obama over McCain but I truly think that if the Democratic Party selects Obama as its candidate, it will be like 1972 and McGovern all over again. (Feb 11, 2008 | post #82)
Report: Women ritually harrassed during Jets halftime -
If those guys were yelling the N Word, or cursing out Jewish folks, there would be arrests aplenty. Why can't these women be allowed to watch a game in peace? Get some security officers who actually want to do their jobs! (Nov 20, 2007 | post #32)
N.C. Beach House Fire Kills 7 Students -
You own a house like this, invite kids over, etc., and no smoke detectors? (Oct 30, 2007 | post #39)
Maine middle schoolers get access to birth control -
It's not just single parent homes. Parents work and spend time doing anything but sitting down with their children and acting like parents. These parents don't want to teach their kids right from wrong anymore, they want to be their children's "buddies. " (Oct 19, 2007 | post #6)
Kids' cold, cough medicines pulled from shelves -
The problem is that if a child has a stuffy nose and can't sleep, the child won't get better. Now, since parents are too stupid to read the labels on these medicines and use them correctly, they have to be pulled from the shelves. That's not the fault of the manufacturers. Besides, those nasal syringes don't work for all kids (never worked on my kids, ever.) (Oct 12, 2007 | post #4)
All the people I've met at work over the years that binged on junk food are the ones whose parents denied them little snacks while growing up. . .I had a boss who grew up with a mother who only let him eat "treats" made of carob powder. . . let me tell you, you were taking your life in your hands if you got between this guy and a piece of Godiva chocolate!
