My bad. You are correct! I stand by the rest though! (16 hrs ago | post #39)
Warren A. Olson, I couldn't agree with you more. Here we have 3 entities fully or heavily subsidized by the tax payer. Instead of looking for quick easy solutions, they bicker like kids in the playground. Any solution will cost more in redesign, right of way and time. We hade a similar issue in Farmington dealing with our new shiny high school. After sneaking in a referendum for the new high school, the city and the school board began bickering about the placement of the new school. In the end, after 2 years of delays and a lot of money going to lawyers arguing both sides of the arguments at tax payer expense, we got less school. Who paid in the end? My wife and I and every other tax payer in Farmington. I wish I had a kid that will attend the new shrine to ED MN. Who benefited???? (18 hrs ago | post #9)
Where on earth did you get that number? How many of those 44,000 people would have died anyway? You do realize that is over 16 million people in one year. Jeez, based on that figure in three years there will be no more uninsured people to worry about. Sounds like there won't be any illegal aliens here either. Healthcare is a personal responsibility, not a right. A personal responsibility such as food, clothing and housing. I can see where you think Big Government should step in and rescue the wayward souls that don't have insurance since we already give away free food, clothing and housing. Oh wait, those people already get free healthcare. And to those that don't get free healthcare, I'm supposed to feel some moral obligation to support them? This healthcare reform was supposed to be an attempt to reign in skyrocketing healthcare costs. Instead, it has become another Big Government giveaway to people who provide nothing in return. New taxes are being floated, most of which tax healthcare deliverers and the tax paying public. A number of suggestions have been made that will reduce costs such as eliminate Intrastate insurance control, wholesale torte reform, mandate reductions in Administrative costs and address end of life options. Healthcare will go the way of education. We won't make it better for everyone willing to work for it. We will dumb it down to the least common denominator to make it "fairer" . Boy, you guys are hitting it on the head this time. However, this is not the first trial balloon that was floated. A few weeks back there was a similar report and recommendation for Prostate exams and PSL levels. I think the reason this is getting so much publicity now is because breast cancer advocates (i.e. survivors, family) are a very active group. A lot of fund raising and publicity for early detection. In any event, this is how healthcare will be rationed. We won't start looking problems until its too late. There won't be death panels. Someone will have to die in order to establish a family history of the disease in question and then the appeals process to break with protocol will begin. (Thursday Nov 19 | post #6)
Bachmann accused of misusing Web site to promote D.C. rally aga...
I noticed throughout your entire post, there was no reference to her stance on healthcare. You don't bother to challenge her statements, her views or why she pulled this rally together for the topic at hand. Further, you go on to label her as crazy and a lunatic. You make, what is quite possibly the most disgusting, sexist remarks. As to your "hate" comments, if my belief is that YOU should pay for your own healthcare makes me a hater, I can live with that. I think you are afraid of strong women. I think you would wilt in their presence and further you lack the intellectual capacity to debate her on the topic at hand. I can't tell if there is some Freundian complex in play or maybe a variation on an Oedepus complex. I will wager that true progressives everywhere are reading your posts and saying, OUT LOUD, "Get off my side." You bring nothing to the debate and your chilish rants prove that the gov't will always bear the responsibility for the least of us. (Thursday Nov 19 | post #28)
What you have stated is absolutely correct, terrorism is not the exclusive domain of religious fanatics. However, in this case, the terroristic act was done in the name of Islam. Mellers, Please note I never stated that Muslims are terrorists. I would state that if I were a Muslim, I would be outraged by the fact that this man and numerous Imams have twisted my beliefs to match their perverse quest for power. (Thursday Nov 19 | post #19)

Bachmann accused of misusing Web site to promote D.C. rally aga...
"CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan said the complaint revolves around the use of public money to promote a political position. "When a member misuses their official Web site for this kind of rallying troops for legislation, we the taxpayers are paying for it," Sloan said. "This was clearly political." " Let's see, a group of like minded individuals protest against a bill being considered in Congress. Yup, that's political and that's how the system works. (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #9)
You are correct. And when said while shooting American citizens in cold blood on American soil is Terrorism. (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #13)
You can't honestly tell me that this act of violence commited by this man while saying "Allah Akubar" is not Islamic terrorism, period. Any act of violence done in the name of religion is terrorism. See Spanish Inquistion for further examples of the perversion of religion to justify one's selfish actions. Further anyone who played a part in "cheering " this act on are terrorists as well. Further, how can you defend President Obama's indecisive response to this act of terrorism. He eagerly condemned a policeman by jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts. Even though a known race baiter had a history of such activity. Your defense of the President in this matter is shameful in the least and portrays you as a blind partisan incapable departing from the party line. (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #12)
MnSCU reports surge in underrepresented students
Translation: Send more money Minnesota taxpayers. More post secondary propaganda from big education. How about you report the successful graduation rates of said "under-repres ented students before we start pumping more cash into a system that actively decriminates against Minnesota tax paying families. Report: U of M scores 3rd in international study
I'll bet this means they need more money to support this successful program. Or it could mean that they will need more money because they felkl short of their goal of being number 1. Either way, Minnesota Taxpayers are screwed again by the academic elitist at our Land Grant University. (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #2)
Franken to highlight service dogs on Veterans Day
Bob, Please stand down. Darwinian's son is serving this country in his own capacity. His purpose and duties are an integral part to a properly run military. Personally I find it refreshing hearing of an attorney serving our country with honor and dignity instead of the lawyers that crowd wall street, ambulance chasers, medical malpractice thieves and my favorite the "for profit management" of non-profit entities Darwinian, although I rarily agree with you politically, I admire your debate tactics. You should be very proud of your son. My nephew recently graduated from jump school and is being deployed early next year. We are very proud of him. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #48)
sock, I've been reading local OpEd pages for a lot of years. You will find Mr Kriz's name numerous times. He appears to be the self appointed conscience for our society. He's content looking down upon anyone or anything that makes our country great. An attitude that is deepy seated in 1960's politics. What makes this letter disgusting is he is implying that our armed forces are killing innocent people and further shrugging it off. Our Armed Services are filled with people of honor and character. Implying anything else speaks to your low charater and spinning moral compass. If civilians are caught in the crossfire, its because the enemy combatant will not step onto the battlefield in a uniform. They hide behind women and children, in schools, in mosques. They hijack our planes filled with innocent people and run them into buildings filled with innocent people. Pioneer Press, why was this letter printed today, of all days? Mr Kriz has a right to free speech, he doesn't have a right to be heard. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #5)
Mr. Peterson, your son's letter should be required reading for every citizen of this country. His message of respect for a fallen comrade and a dedication to home and country. Above all else, it illustrates the fact that men and women, such as your son, are human beings dedicating their lives to this country and feel the pain if one of their own were lost. They are not nameless or faceless. They embody what makes this the greatest country on earth. And congrats to you, Sir! You've raised a great man and nurtured a great soul.
