That's lousy math for an engineer. Actually it depends on how the money is funded. 40,000/2,000 = 20 months. But if you have 40K in cash and put it on your mortage or dropped the purchase price of the house by $40K your payment amount will drop by $400 per month and make the house much more affordable. Now your loan becomes about $1600 per month instead of $2000 and you have a much better chance of making the payment. Plus by forgetting the 40K in upgrades you save $144K over the life of the loan.  (Yesterday | post #228)

Is Orange County en route to new gas tax?

I would like to know how much is the average cost to transport a person a mile on the Lynx buss. Can anyone take the total Lynx budget for a year and divide by the number of riders and miles the buss travels to determine this. I bet the cost is much higher than $.25 per person per mile to ride the bus. You would be better off to buy all the poor people SUVs and give them free gas than support the Lynx!  (Yesterday | post #20)

Exactly, they will not remind you that they wasted Billions while they want to raise your taxes.  (Yesterday | post #18)

Actually that statement is quite true over the past decede. Ten years ago the stock market was over value, people thought it goes up and it goes up, same happened with real estate and the same happens with oil. Someone thinks we have a problem or makes a speech that the price of oil will go up and it goes up.  (Monday | post #160)
