"Ex-lesbian" violates custody battle. Lesbian mom gets cu...
Miller may or may not be a lesbian but she most certainly shows strong signs of emotional disurbance in her willingness to use her daughter as a pawn. I cannot believe that someone with that kind of mentality will ever be a good parents. Her daughter deserves better. I must also say that I think Miller is being manipulated and used by right wingers with an agenda that does not include caring about the child but rather trying to set a judicial precedent to be used agains all LGBTQ parents. That, also, is inexcusable. (Sep 24, 2009 | post #5)

Gay, Mainstream Press View Anti-Gay Ad with Doubt
The author of this article is exactly right - many of the same things were being said 50 years ago during the beginning of the civil rights movement. I am surprised no one has used old footage of preachers rallying their white congregations to resist equal rights for African Americans and directly compared what was said then to what is being said today about LGBTQ rights. The only thing different between now and then is that I do not remember people saying that African Americans could change their color by praying. (Apr 11, 2009 | post #2)

Evidence Mormon Church Violated Tax Exempt Status!
I think it helps to maintain the legal difference between marriage as a legal and civil entity and marriage as a religious entity. If Mormons or Catholics or Baptisits or whatever want to refuse to marry a gay or lesbian couple - fine, that is their right. However, as a civil matter - the state (and federal government) can recognize my right to marry without forcing any action on a church. This is the real issue here - who defines marriage? Churches have somehow come up with the wrongheaded belief that they are the definers of marriage. They are wrong. Marriage is a civil institution. If it were not a civil institution then we would not see so many laws that refer to or confer rights based on whether one is married or not married. The only religion-based right conferred by marriage is the right to engage in sex and that hardly qualifies as a civil right based in law or the constitution. (Jan 16, 2009 | post #34)

I absolutely support the boycott. I am completely over having my life and my freedom interfered with by bigoted right-wing religious people. Let's interfere, even if only a little, with their financial goals. (Jan 14, 2009 | post #8)
27000 letters urge LDS leader to back rights of gay Utahns
Time for the MOrmon church to either stand by the things it has said since the Prop * vote or be publicly branded as liars. I will be interested to see how they solve this dilemma they have gotten themselves into. (Dec 23, 2008 | post #1)
Barney Frank Slams Warren Choice as Warren Spins
I am disgusted and fed up with being told I am loved and then shoved under the bus. I am also very very angry. Warren's inability to understand the issue is an indication that he does not think deeply about issues that would push on his little evangelical/bible envelope. If he did, he might find that he is wrong. Then he would lose his church, his congregation, his salary his perks and, most imprtant, his power. (Dec 22, 2008 | post #1)

Aahhh - Dissension among the forces of evil! Interesting that some evil-doers think other evil-doers are too evil to be part of the in-group of evil-doers. Discrimination knows no bounds! (Nov 25, 2008 | post #1)
Meet The Most Hated Family In America
I think elodns' comments leave me feeling somewhat patronized. Actually, I think it is more likely that being heterosexual is a birth defect since it is heterosexuality that is overpopulating the planet and, thereby, ruining it for everyone. Perhaps hetersexuality was only meant to be a rare condition - just enough to maintain the population without going overboard. (Nov 22, 2008 | post #9)
Catholic School Kicks Lesbian Mother Off PTA
Kathy, Thank you for your response. Yes, LGBT parents do have really hard decisions to make and I appreciate hearing your side of the story. As one who was raised Catholic and had 16 years of Catholic education, I also have to say that I feel some relief knowing that your son is no longer in the Catholic school system. I paid for my 16 years of first class "classical " education with a lot of guilt and emotional turmoil. The brainwashing is subtle but it is there. Good luck in your future choices, I know there will be many. (Nov 22, 2008 | post #12)
Meet The Most Hated Family In America
The leader members of this family, at the very least, seem to be really mentally twisted. And since Phelps only seems to have family members in his church, one must assume that he has established a family cult and that the mental aberration is genetic. What the adults have been permitted to do to the children's minds is horrible. I wish there were some way to save the children. I think, though, that they are as brainwashed as the children of the fundamentalist Mormon group Waiting for Zion in Texas. Thank heavens the woman only has eleven children, and maybe some will escape the craziness. (Nov 21, 2008 | post #1)
