The Dolphins will be the favorites. Chad Pennington was vindicated this season as the excellent QB that he is. (Dec 29, 2008 | post #32)
Bad calls not always black, white
Is there posting elsewhere? (Dec 21, 2008 | post #109)
It has nothing to do with an amateur reading the rules. The rule is CLEARLY stated that two feet in the end zone with a catch is a touchdown. I MYSELF thought that the plane needed ALWAYS to be broken, but I was wrong. it only needs to be broken when running with the ball. And as far as "taking the officials' word for it" in concerned, these are the SAME OFFICIALS whom in most Raven fans' opinion bungled the call on the field. Why would we necessarily blindly take his word for it, if you think that he S CREWED up the instant replay in the first place? If he is incompetent on the field, there is certainly the possibility that he would be incompetent in his explanation 24 hours later. And yes, EVEN AFTER HAVING A CONFERENCE WITH THE NFL HEIRARCHY, he still could have been wrong. Like I said, most Raven fans have no problem claiming that he was dead wrong in the first place. His explanation is certainly NOT beyond question. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #474)
Darn thorough explanantion. I must admit, I thought that the plane needed to be broken on a pass or a run. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #457)
Well then Jim Plunkett must be a genius, because he managed the clock brilliantly without any "approval from his coach" from his rookie year with The Patriots right up until his last season with The Raiders. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #443)
I am a full-time fan. Go to The Philadelphia Inquirer and see my posts there to see what team I root for full-time. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #442)
PSS I ALSO said that THE RAVENS mismanaged the clock by not using their timeouts when the Steelers were driving late. I said that The Ravens should have used their timeouts, so that when they got the ball back, they would have 1:30 and no timeouts, rather than 35 seconds and two timeouts, which is what they had. The broadcasters made NO MENTION OF THIS whatsoever. YOU BADLY NEED READING COMPREHENSION LESSONS/COURSES. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #439)
PS. I ALSO said that Ben should not have called a timeout with 1:45 to play when he completed the pass to The Ravens' 15 yard-line. The broadcasters made NO MENTION of this. Again, take some courses in reading comprehension before asking assaine questions like " Do you always form your opinions based on what the broadcaster says?" (Dec 15, 2008 | post #435)
And do you have trouble reading paragraphs that the average seventh-grader can read? My pointing out that the broadcaster said that he should not have spiked the ball was to show that I said that he MISMANAGED the timeouts. I said that the broadcasters were focusing on the spiked ball, while I was pointing out the number of timeouts left, which the broadcasters failed to point out. Take some courses in reading comprehension. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #433)
Ben Rothlesberger is ONE OF BEST QUARTERBACKS in THE NFL. He has been playing DIVISION I-A college football and NFL football for NINE YEARS now. He shouldn't be asking for "coach's approval" on how to manage the clock in the last two minutes of the game. Again, see my previous posts about apparently borderline retarded defensive players that "look for coach's approval" to call a timeout, while letting desperately-needed second tick off of the clock. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #428)
^^^^^^^ The broadcaster said that he should NOT have spiked the ball. Typo. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #418)
The broadcaster DID NOT say it was a bad timeout, "jackass. " I SAID it was a bad USE OF timeouts. The broadcater said that he should have spiked the ball. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #417)
PS. And in case you think that I am picking on Rothlesberger because he is a Steeler, you need to see that not only was I even harder on Flacco than Rothlesberger (at least Ben marched his team down the field when it counted, even though he messed up on the clock management), it drives me crazy when I see mismanagement of the clock ALL THE TIME in the NFL........ QUITE OFTEN, when a team is losing late in the 4th quarter, their defense makes a tackle, and they proceed to let about 15 seconds run off the clock, THEN they call a timeout. GRRRRRRRR! IDIOTS! You either CALL A TIMEOUT, or you save it! You don't get the worst of both worlds by letting fifteen seconds run off the clock, then calling TimeOut. These are NFL PLAYERS that have been playing football for the better part of their life! Yet, they look at the sidelines at their coach while time is ticking off the clock, and ask him, "DUH, Coach. Should we calla timeout now? DUH." CHRIS HANBURGER was a RARE EXCEPTION of a player that TOOK THE INITIATIVE and IMMEDIATELY called a timeout the instant that the whistle blew, ending the play. The majority of other PLAYERS (past and present) continue to make the same mistak, look at the sidelines while precious seconds are ticking away, and say "DUH, COACH, SHOULD WE CALL A TIMEOUT NOW? DUH." (Dec 15, 2008 | post #412)
Well then Ben is even stupider than I thought, because that is an EVEN WORSE EXPLANATION than panicking. The proper call? FIRST AND GOAL AT THE FOUR YARDLINE with almost a full minute and TWO TIMEOUTS! YOU DO NOT sacrifice a DEARLY NEEDED DOWN to "call the proper play." You go to the line of scrimmage, and call the audible, then run a play. With TWO TIMEOUTS IN HIS POCKET, The Steelers had time enough to get tackled IN BOUNDS ALL THREE TIMES, and still had time to run a fourth down play. (Dec 15, 2008 | post #398)
