Texas prepares for an ominous Hurricane Ike
County rescue officials had already announced that ahead of time. Too bad for the tanker crew trying to beat the storm. Hopefully they'll make it through... (Sep 12, 2008 | post #10)
The Californians wouldn't be able to take the snow. :p (Sep 12, 2008 | post #235)
Glad to see someone agrees. :) Going to be here for ACL in a couple of weeks? (Sep 12, 2008 | post #234)
But let me guess...you're pro-life? (Sep 12, 2008 | post #123)
Okay I'll not argue with you as we seem to see eye to eye. :) As far as the Oasis - it is a beautiful place for a sunset although the food is sub-par at best. (incidentally, it nearly burned to the ground due to a lightning strike a few years ago). (Sep 12, 2008 | post #101)
Good luck in trying to quit! One of my co-workers quit 6 months ago. Last weekend she had an urge, bought a pack and lit up as soon as she walked out of the convenience store. She said she was so disgusted at the taste that she threw out the pack right then and there. You can do it and you'll feel a lot better about yourself too. :) (Sep 12, 2008 | post #53)
So Austin doesn't have mom and pop businesses? You really are reaching. Austin has a slogan - "Keep Austin Weird." They also have another one - "Support local businesses." This town THRIVES on said "mom and pops." And then HELLO we have one of the largest universities in the NATION (Austin population increases by 50,000 every school year) and guess what college kids do during weekends and down times? That's right, they go to bars on 6th Street which are...you guessed it, Mom and Pops. There was whining and complaining for a month or two and then people accepted it and went on their merry ways. Understand, I'm not a smoker, BUT I didn't (and still don't) agree with the ban at the bars. It is awful nice though, when you're a smoke-allergic, to go play darts and pool. (Sep 12, 2008 | post #43)
Business fell off for about a month but picked right back up. Like I said, people adjust. (Sep 12, 2008 | post #23)
Austin is a smoke free city already. Folks seem to have adjusted to it just fine. (Sep 12, 2008 | post #17)

ALSO being in information technology AND coming from military IT, I'd say you must not get much training. Look up ICANN and read about what the Bush administration does about web-surfing in the US. Police state. Make fun of a tin-foil hat but some days it's quite tempting to put one on. (Sep 11, 2008 | post #184)

Hence that over-inflated "Homeland Security" budget every year. Having been in one of their satellite organizations, you'd be amazed on the R&D that goes into technology items for the government. (Sep 10, 2008 | post #143)

It's not hard when you have a few thousand staffers that do nothing but monitor all communications going in and out of the country (not to mention communications within the nation) (Sep 10, 2008 | post #123)

Sorry but they ALL speak from teleprompters. Heck, Gov Palin's major in college was journalism and she starred in her college newscasts. (Sep 10, 2008 | post #122)

I'm reaching? How? Sorry the truth bothers you. And you haven't been? (Sep 10, 2008 | post #121)
