Stanford, Oklahoma to play in 76th annual Brut Sun Bowl

You're just jealous I have a job where I can leave in the middle of the day to go to the Sun Bowl. One of the fringe benefits of being a salary employee. Looking foward to going to the game!  (Monday Dec 7 | post #36)

Stanford, Oklahoma to play in 76th annual Brut Sun Bowl

I hope it doesn't turn out to be a snoozer like last year's Sun Bowl (Oregon vs. Pittsburg). Luckily, I was drunk enough to not really notice... This sounds like a really good match-up, though. Good job Sun Bowl committee!  (Sunday Dec 6 | post #7)

Gustavo Reveles Acosta: There's no point learning how to drive ...

I wonder if those 70 text messages that were sent out during this winter event were recieved by drivers while out on the icy roads. Maybe that caused people to wreck... Either way, El Pasoans can't drive worth sheeit, whether it be on a dry sunny day or on icy roads. Everybody is always messing around with their cell phones and not paying attention. And we cannot forget the Juareno/New Mexican factor. Put all these factors together and we have a recipe for disaster and frustration for those of us competent drivers. Idiots!  (Sunday Dec 6 | post #8)

Fabens taggers caught on camera

They should make these low-lives clean up their own mess and all other graffiti in their neighborhood... Some corporal punishment would also be in order for these stupid kids. I bet if it was reinstated, there wouldn't be any tagging or petty crimes of this nature. Some chingasos always work wonders..  (Sunday Dec 6 | post #2)

American college student convicted of murder in Italy, sentence...

If she had done it in El Paso, they would have used the "mentally retarded" defense and sentenced her to 120 days in jail. I swear, some defense lawyers are just plain scum.  (Friday Dec 4 | post #4)

Texas executes man who raped, killed 11-year-old

Way to paraphrase what everybody else has already said. Have you any original thoughts? Here's one: My suggestion would be to stab the criminal in the side and throw them in a tank with hungy pirhana. Now that would be a fitting punishment!  (Friday Dec 4 | post #32)

Bill Knight on UTEP football: Win leaves Miners with some mixed...

Why does nobody ever know the difference between "losing" and "loose." Man that's annoying! Let's face it, Stull, Natalicio, and Price are going nowhere. It would almost take an act of God to remove any of them. What they should do is replace some of the assistants, especially the defensive coordinator. How can a defense be successful if opposing teams average more than 400+ yards of offense, even against teams like Rice or Tulane? That's just terrible! Either way, I'm glad to hear they won their last game. If they had played to their potential every game this season and nutted it up, they could have gone 10-2, been the conference usa champs, and gone to a bowl game, but instead played like pansies most of the time and only won 4 games. Aye que lastima!  (Sunday Nov 29 | post #4)

Slick conditions cause rollover in Northeast El Paso

Why is it that rain that people in other states would laugh at has to cause so many accidents here? What? People from other states that we laugh at? Huh? What the hell are you trying to say? And it could have been a female driver as well. Lately, I have seen more female truck drivers on the road. Either way, I'm sure it was an inexperienced driver that turned over.  (Sunday Nov 29 | post #3)

Chris Lopez: Ciudad Juarez demands the El Paso Times' attention

Hey Mr. Lopez, it's nice to know that you are putting your journalists' lives in danger so we can get the latest news on the carnage that has ravaged that dump of a city. We really appreciate it!  (Sunday Nov 22 | post #12)

Witness says Hernandez breakup was sure thing

You have a point. I remember my college poly sci professor, who was a former attorney himself, told us that defense lawyers will do anything short of breaking the law to defend their clients. But that strategy seems be a common one these days. Hopefully the jury is not composed of dim-wits and will give him a deserving sentence. I also love how this dude's friends come on here and say he is a nice guy. Nice guys don't stalk their victims and shoot them at point blank range. But whatever, you probably also think cartel bosses are great people who take care of their families. You need to get your head out of culo!  (Nov 12, 2009 | post #19)

Prosecutors rest case in murder trial

Well put ese. My sentiments exactly. This is my version, but in English... So, is that going to be the new defense for murderers in El Paso from now on? "My client is mentally retarded so therefore you cannot sentence him to death?" I guess if it worked for David Leonard Wood it can work for other convicted murderers. I swear, some of these defense lawyers are as scummy as the people they represent. May they all burn in hell together!  (Nov 11, 2009 | post #3)

UTEP coach Mike Price talks about Saturday's loss to Tulane

It's sad and pointless to have an argument with delusional fans who are in denial of the truth. Like my mom used to tell me when dealing with people like this "siguele la corriente," meaning to go along with whatever they say. So true miner fan, you're right. The miners are a great team and coach price is one of the best coaches in the NCAA. They just had a few tough breaks here and there and they could have done better... No, fcuk that! This team has a bunch of pansies (except for Donald Buckram) with no balls and no courage. They could have won most of their games if they wanted to, but poor coaching, lack of discipline, and no confidence has done them in. They need somebody to bring some fire and passion to the game and make these kids play with guts, determination, and desire. Mike Price seems to be too soft and always makes excuses as to why they didn't perform. It's as if he is more interested in being popular and not hurting anyone's feelings. No more excuses Price! Go hard or go home! We've had it with this half-arse crap! And True Miner Fan, I make a lot more than the minimum wage with my two degrees from UTEP, by the way.  (Nov 9, 2009 | post #27)
