You're a business owner. You have to pay someone so you can go on vacation. You have to fund your own retirement and other aspects of your life like healthcare and disability insurance. This is why the % you work on is laughable. All these companies that sell routes are driving down the % as everything else goes up. Any independent distributor working for any company should be getting over 20% to make it work.  (Jan 16, 2014 | post #5044)

Keep a detailed record and of course your invoice showing the shortages. When you get out contact a lawyer and sue them for your lost income. I don't know the wording on your contract but I'd check that first. If you signed a contract that states S-L is not responsible for bin/warehouse shortages you're screwed.  (Nov 13, 2013 | post #4906)

@MAYBEANEWGUY, you quoted 4 weeks of settlement. You paid out $1000 and took in $2600. That's $1600 for 4 weeks. $400 a week. Impressive (sic). You expect us to believe you cleared $10,000 your first month after those figures? My guess is you're S-L management trying to put a good spin on buying a route. I don't know 1 IBO that thinks this system is the best. You have to be a fraud. We never had to audit the truck every week back when they paid us off our sales. Even if you had to inventory your truck every week it doesn't take 15 minutes unless you're a moron. 15 minutes is a small price to pay to ensure getting a check every week.  (May 23, 2013 | post #3619)

They're not a good item. Too high in fat and calories to appeal to the new generation of healthy snack consumers.  (Apr 13, 2013 | post #3364)

DON'T DO IT!! Negotiate with the company on a buyout that will enable you to walk away with a small profit. Hire a lawyer if necessary. If you just walk away you're leaving yourself wide open to legal action. Don't let them win. Approach this professionally and you'll make out alright. Approach it like a loser, schmuck and they'll walk all over you.  (Mar 12, 2013 | post #3122)

You couldn't have it more wrong. Working for Wonder/Hostess back when Continental Baking owned them was a good job. You got paid a good wage, had healthcare and a pension. A good American job. Then IBC bought them, leveraged them to the max, corporate paid themselves huge salaries while trying to cut the wages and benefits of their employees. Plus they didn't invest in the company itself. Equipment got old, their brand didn't change with the times. Now they want their employees to work for Wal Mart wages. It's just another example of how the blue collar American worker is getting screwed by white collar corporate America. I'm really sick of attitudes like yours, blaming good hard working men and women instead of the selfish, greedy aholes that bought the company.  (Nov 23, 2012 | post #2772)

I'm done with you. You are just so foolish. How did he make 21 million last year? So he didn't take a salary, big deal he sure didn't need it. He lives off trust funds, capital gains. He is a scammer. He's sold American jobs down the river. You seem to ignore that. In Mass it is the law that the state budget be balanced. Every Mass gov has done it. Romney cut state funding by $1.6billion, including $700million to cities and towns. That caused property taxes to rise 24%. Right now in the state that knows him best, he's getting beat by over 20%. And don't go there about how liberal Mass is. 4 out of the last 6 governors have been Repubs and Reagan carried the state twice. His $5 trillion tax plan doesn't add up. It will increase the deficit. All he's doing is running for the top 5%. Screw the rest of us.  (Oct 17, 2012 | post #2721)

Do you really think the people running S-L are Democrats? You're another blue collar delusional repub. What part of "Repub policies caused this mess" don't you get? All the economic indicators are up since Obama took office. Unemployment is down 2%, the stock market has DOUBLED, etc. Romney is every manager in S-L hero. That S.O.B. would sell you and your job out in 2 seconds if he could make $5 and you're going to vote for him? That makes you a sucker. And why are you bringing politics in here anyway?  (Oct 15, 2012 | post #2712)

Read your contract. While there are different contracts for different areas of the country, they all have a section on S-L's right to buy back territory. If they paid you fair market value and the fees involved are stated, then you're screwed. I have a feeling you're going at this alone. You need professional help. If you have an accountant (every I.O. should) ask him to help you, but it seems like you may need a lawyer. Just about every lawyer will give you a free consultation. Take advantage of that. After reading the contract if you truly feel you have a case, go to as many lawyers as it takes until 1 will work with you. BELIEVE THIS, S-L COUNTS on guys like you not having accounting and legal advice. And not being able to afford it. Don't let them run you over.  (Sep 30, 2012 | post #2691)

I meant that last post to respond to Long Time Lance Man. Good luck LTLM. Mission makes a great product.  (Sep 10, 2012 | post #2670)

They did the same thing here in Florida. They didn't offer routes to experienced IO's and then sold them to young guys with no experience. People like merchandisers for Pepsi, Coke, Bud and Miller. They get these young guys who know nothing about the business and talk them into plowing huge amounts of product into low volume Winn Dixies and Sweetbays. It makes the DM look good and the poor kid gets hammered with stales. The guy behind it is the new Sweetbay FL Rep. He's a despicable snake in the grass that is using these kids to further his career. An unbelievable piece of shit. Bottom line is Snyder-Lance routes are falling apart. Service to the best accounts, like Publix are hurting. It will come back to bite them in the ass. S-L stock is down 12%.  (Sep 10, 2012 | post #2669)

Another one bites the dust. It seems like taking on an upper management job with S-L isn't such a good thing. One year was all poor Earl could take. Good luck Earl in whatever you choose to do. Turning in your resignation just added years to your life.  (Aug 10, 2012 | post #2566)

I've read here that nobody has gotten any positive feedback from this law firm regarding legal action against S-L. I'm wondering if maybe they've been retained by S-L to expose people who will be possibly taking legal action against them. Think about it, the sooner they know who is against them the better they can prepare and probably look to terminate. Has anybody gotten positive feedback from Halunen?  (Jun 19, 2012 | post #2411)
