Why must we always legislate issues that people don't agree on when commonsense makes more sense? I don't need a government agency to dictate what I can or can't listen to or watch. walmart not playing Christmas music

Walmart doesn't play "any" music and haven't piped in music for close to a year now. They used to have Walmart Radio and the DJ's played a variety of music (especially on overnights) but apparently customers complained about the selections. Seniors didn't like the Heavy Metal, younger customers didn't care for the oldies. Solution was to stop playing it all. If you look in the aisles during overnight stocking, you'll see a lot of employees wearing mp3 players now.  (Tuesday | post #3)

My father was a first-generation American. His parents knocked on the door and asked for permission to enter the USA. His parents saw to it that English became the primary language of their children because this was their home now. Years ago our government didn't feel the need to create documents and guides in several different languages because you were expected to learn and know the established language of this country. Illegals, by their own actions, have denied themselves what they consider basic human rights and needs. They haven't earned the right to vote, have free medical care, or a free education. These "rights" are for the citizens who are here legally. Many of whom have sacrificed much to this country in building it and dying for it. If the illegals want a better life, they can work for change in their corrupt mother country or knock on the door and ask to be admitted here. --------- "Why do I have to press "1" for English?"  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #212)

I visited San Francisco in 1978 and it was (is?) a beautiful city. The architecture was amazing! There is nothing wrong with the city, it is the people who govern it (Federal, State, and local) that are the problem... and yet, the people keep re-electing the same yahoos over and over again. Ohio House OKs school junk-food ban

This ban will do absolutely nothing as long as the parents are loading up the cupboards and fridge with junk food. They're trying to legislate healthier eating and that job should be done in the home, but as we see in the problem of youth obesity, it apparently isn't. A good start would be to set limits on what can be purchased on a foodstamp card! As someone who has worked in retail for nine years, I see the junk that gets fed to children every month. You can ban every twinkie and coke from every school and it's not going to make a dent in the problem.  (Thursday Dec 17 | post #7)
