Has anyone heard of Pfizer's Chantix
Thanks, Viki! You're such a great cheerleader! One of the things I AM getting rid of is my sucky, stressful job! After almost 8 years, I told my boss I'm resigning. I think once that happens, I can let my "security blanket" go. Something about this Chantix, I cannot sleep more than 6 to 6 1/2 hours a night. Even with just a 1/2 pill in the morning. That's the worst side effect for me! (Oct 8, 2007 | post #3570)
Has anyone heard of Pfizer's Chantix
Hi, Viki...I'm still keeping my cigs to 3 a day. I had to cut the Chantix dosage to 1/2 mg. in the a.m. Played around with it last week, tried 1 1/2, taking the second one early, tried 1 mg. a.m. only. With me, it's the sleeping issue that's the worst. No wonder my boobs aren't growing...too low a dose! (Oct 5, 2007 | post #3465)

Thanks, Viki! The addiction is definitely mental (or I am!) for me. I got up Monday, thought about how much I didn't want to go to my job and it was just downhill from there. After almost 8 years at my job, I'm totally burned out and know it. (Oct 4, 2007 | post #3415)

I hate to break the chain of success of the last few pages, but I fell off the wagon. I made it through 3 1/2 days nicotine free. But once I had to go to work Monday and face my stressful, sucky job, I broke. I had 2 cigarettes yesterday and some nicorette, and 2 cigs today and 1 nicorette. So that's a bummer, but I just gotta get back on that horse! (Oct 2, 2007 | post #3291)

Well, day three of no nicotine is half over. Yesterday, I cut my dosage down to 1/2 mg twice a day. The 2 mg a day was just messing my sleep up too much. I figured if the craving gets too strong at this level, I'll go back up. But I feel more 'normal' at the lower dose. I sure miss smoking, tho. Oddly enough, we went to the bar last night and it didn't bother me a bit to be around it and not smoke. But I think about it a lot. The drug's kinda weird that way, I guess. Wow, Mike! You've really had to overcome a lot of hard knocks! You deserve a lot of credit for being able to deal with all you've gone through!! Mad props! (Sep 30, 2007 | post #3153)

Thanks! I tell ya, tho, Chantix or no Chantix, it still sucks to quit smoking! The Chantix just helps it suck a little less. (Sep 29, 2007 | post #3101)

Good for you, Mike!! On both overcoming past and present addictions and not being afraid to stand up to people if they try to "throw it in your face"!! Keep up the good work! (Sep 29, 2007 | post #3094)

Thanks, Teresa!! I am now into my second full day nicotine free!! I sure do think about cigs, but not OMG, OMG, OMG! (Sep 29, 2007 | post #3093)

Well, I'm coming to the end of Week 3 of Chantix. I had 2 cigs yesterday a.m. and some nicorette gum the rest of the day. So far today, I've had no nicotine products at all. I sure do think about cigs, but it isn't driving me nuts. Wish me luck for getting through one day nicotine-free!! I really just want to get this done with and get off the Chantix. The side effects aren't severe, but annoying nonetheless. Hopefully, I won't have to get the second month's pills! (Sep 28, 2007 | post #3040)

Janet, definitely get the pills and give it a try!! I was not at all committed to quitting when I started the pills, but I figured it was worth a shot! It will help you say no! (Sep 28, 2007 | post #3039)

Teresa, that's awesome that it worked so quickly for you!! I think everyone needs to decide for themselves how long they need to take it, regardless of what Pfizer "recommends ". My husband only did the first month of pills and has been off cigs for 9 months. Can I do the same? Maybe, maybe not. Keep up the good work! (Sep 19, 2007 | post #2717)

I was very nervous to try Chantix. Altho my husband did not have any side effects, I talked to a few people who had horrible side effects. If you do a search on Chantix, there's a forum at www.wrongdiagnosis .com of people who have gotten horrible joint pain from it. So it was with great hesitation that I tried it anyway. I figured if the side effects got too bad, I'd cut down or quit the drug. Figured I had nothing to lose trying it except my desire to smoke! (Sep 19, 2007 | post #2716)

Awww! If a skull could blush, I would! :) I'm a big wimp, first time trying to quit! I have not set a quit date, but my smoking is naturally dropping off due to fewer cravings. (Sep 19, 2007 | post #2715)

I'm on Day 4 of the blue pills. Cigs don't taste gross yet, but starting to be kinda yucky and the cravings aren't that strong. I was hoping for quicker results, but as long as I'm seeing something, that's a plus! Does anyone notice increased urination? Either it's making me thirstier or just making me pee more. I'm up once every night now. Not a big deal, just annoying. (Sep 18, 2007 | post #2703)
