MURPHY PARK - " Swing Set for Children" Petition

Las Palmas and Washington are superior parks, but for those of us in walking distance to Murphy, I don't see why a swing set is such a bad idea in principle (not sure where I'd put it though - space is tight). Relatively speaking, it's a heck of a lot more secluded from traffic and fewer weirdos than, say, Fair Oaks park.  (Jul 30, 2007 | post #3)

Photo of the week: Harry Potter arrives at Sunnyvale Borders

I'm glad I ordered mine ahead of time on Amazon. That's a serious crowd.  (Jul 22, 2007 | post #1)

Developer told to maintain planned retail in downtown Sun...

Jeez - more of the same... I guess it should come as no surprise that developers -- whether its the previous Forum group, or now Sand Hill-- should want to make money at the expense of the citizens. I'll just be glad when the thing is finished!  (Jul 19, 2007 | post #1)

Most Dangerous intersections in Sunnyvale?

I vote for the N Bound 101 entrance/exit at Mathilda. That ties 101 S Bound Rengstorff in Mt View for the most poorly designed on-ramp ever. I've had so many near misses here that I started using the other on-ramp next to Lockeed. The only worse exit I've seen is in Downtown Seattle, where Spring street exits from the LEFT hand lane off the freeway. Ugh.  (Jun 20, 2007 | post #7)

Counterfeit wine costs consumers thousands

That is a fantastic post - I had no idea this was going on. But it makes sense -- I'm sure most of the buyers have no idea that they weren't buying the real deal, since wine is such a subjective experience.  (May 21, 2007 | post #1)

E. coli outbreak in Bakersfield linked to water slide party

A water slide? That is insane. Doesn't chlorine kill e coli? Maybe there wasn't enough in the pool...  (May 21, 2007 | post #1)

'Wings of Freedom' tour at Mountain View's Moffett Field

I went to this today - it was very cool. I spoke with a vet who was a turret-gunner in a B-17 that flew 27 missions over Germany. Some amazing stories.  (May 19, 2007 | post #1)

Signs point to dog fights at Vick house

What's really sad is the level of publicity and expectations we shower these sports "stars" with. I love pro and college sports, but why do we have an expectation that these guys should somehow be role models to society when their expertise lies in athletics?  (May 17, 2007 | post #74)

Neighbors up in arms over proposed Mary Ave bridge at 101

I used to live at Mary and Central in the Summer Hill apartments across from Encinal Park. One of the things I liked about the area was how quiet it was, especially after 6pm. It's nice to walk down Mary without worrying about traffic. I don't see how this bridge is really going to help much.  (May 17, 2007 | post #1)
