Should Army medevacs be armed?

Poland fears U.S. defense cuts make it vulnerable to Russia

Poland fears U.S. defense cuts make it vulnerable to Russia

I'm gonna say that the Polish military of today compared to that of the Cold War is 100% better trained and combat tested. Having lived under Communism for 70+ years, Russia will be hard pressed to bring them back into the fold.  (Tuesday Jan 24 | post #8)

Romney releases his tax records--paid a meager 14% in 2010A

You guys are comparing apples and oranges- they're both fruit. Mitt Romney was already taxed on the money that he invested. He is now taxed again on 'capital gains'. We should all try to achieve and better ourselves.  (Tuesday Jan 24 | post #21)

Marine accused of killing unarmed Iraqis pleads guilty

He pled guilty to dereliction of duty and will get a MAXIMUM of three months confinement. He probably will serve less. The article didn't say whether he would be discharged (if I were him I would ask for a discharge on principle). At the end of the day a discharge is at the discretion of the Commander (according to the UCMJ)  (Monday Jan 23 | post #2)

Rand Paul stopped by TSA at airport, law enforcement deni...

If this were Maxine Waters or John Clyburn, the Obama Administration would be apoplectic and comparing this as a Rosa Parks or MLK moment. And the TSA would probably lose their funding overnight.  (Monday Jan 23 | post #23)

Canada will look to China to sell its oil

So not to stay on topic or anything... The Enbridge pipeline (the Gateway Project) was always going to be built. I wouldn't be surprised if half the groundwork is already laid. And Keystone will be built... eventually... after it's been squeezed for every ounce of political juice by both sides.  (Saturday Jan 21 | post #38)

Romney: $360,000 Is "Not Very Much" Money

Bill Clinton has made $82 million in speaking fees over the last 6 years... just sayin.  (Friday Jan 20 | post #113)

Republicans Furious Over Obama Recess Appointments

You may not think its working and Obama may not think its working (well, he did while he was in the Senate, and his administration did last year), but the constitution says that the Senate gets to make their own rules- not the Executive Branch  (Jan 5, 2012 | post #10)

Congress, President Obama set for battle over 1,700-mile ...

Inevitable? Please, the most serious incident with the Alaska pipeline came from an environmentalist blowing a hole in it. 16,000 bbl of oil flowed out before it was shut down. Maintenance mishaps on that particular pipeline are negligible. If that's all that happens 33 years from when this pipeline is finished, I would call that a success  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #215)

The Hypocrisy And Stupidity Of The GOP's Hatred Of The EPA

Saying that Jesus was killed because he told the theocracy that paying taxes was not a sin is a little misleading. The good folks of the Sanhedrin and the Pharisees certainly understood that under Roman law they had to pay taxes. And Christ didn't say it was bad to be rich- When money becomes an obstacle to your faith and becomes your surrogate god is where you have problems. There are plenty of Christians who have money, who quietly help those that need to be helped and who pay their taxes. Finally, 2Peter 2 should not just be analogous to the GOP as a whole, but to those politicians of any party who exemplify that behavior  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #18)

Congress, President Obama set for battle over 1,700-mile ...

I'll buy that- it's not the point though. And there will be several hundred permanent jobs created after the pipeline in built- each 100-200 mile section will have an operations supervisor and a few maintenance workers for upkeep in every state that it goes through. These will be skilled trades people who belong to a union  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #192)

Congress, President Obama set for battle over 1,700-mile ...

All the EPA work is done. It has been done since the middle of last year. The Project has met all Federal, State and local ordinances. They even re routed the pipeline, adding millions to the cost to keep it out of certain areas. He won't pull the trigger because if he does it's a win for business and he can't have that til after NOV12. He's playing politics at the expense of the American people who need the jobs  (Jan 2, 2012 | post #13)

Afghan president welcomes US remarks on Taliban

Taliban not the enemy? I'm not sure where Biden gets his information, but the Taliban are definitely the enemy that consistently fired 107mm rockets at my chicken wire compound. It was the Taliban leaders we were raiding and getting intel on. Joe needs to STFU  (Dec 31, 2011 | post #23)

Insider account of Petraeusa rise and how he nearly stepp...

You haven't lived on this earth very long have you? If your older than 25 then you've been under a rock. Iraq was not about making that country a 'sovereign' nation. Sure we want them to govern themselves without killing to many of each other. Hell, for that matter Sadaam kept things pretty tight, til he got to big for his britches. Iraq was and will remain about the free flow of oil throughout the world. The free flow of oil is of great National Security to the USA, as it should be. Iran has been rattling her saber since 1979. Russia and China didn't support the latest round of sanctions in the least, but they are caught between a political rock and a hard place. Such are the whims of geopolitics. And the sanctions are pretty toothless, they would have to be to get Russia and China on board... Regardless of your age, one day you're gonna wake up and wonder what the F*** hit you right between the eyes  (Dec 30, 2011 | post #17)
