County moves forward with considering zoning change for SoHum park
Too many times, we don’t question the negative, often malicious consequences of our greed. While progress should never come to a halt, there are many places it should never come to at all. Thank you, Ed Voice and Voice Family Garberville Ca (Nov 12, 2009 | post #8)
Park board promises more openness - Redwood Times
Thank you very much, Redwood Times; I am so glad the paper took down minutes of this meeting. I hope there will be another meeting like this again, real soon. Maybe before 2009? My view is: If the Park Board wants to keep their business behind closed doors, they should not have called it a COMMUNITY PARK, or not represented themselves as a Public Benefit Non-Profit 501 c 3 Charitable Corporation. Sure, there are documents that they don't have to share with anyone. But for me, it brings up the question, why? The more you don't answer questions from the public, the more the public will dig and ask more. I would like to Thank the Park Board again for having this meeting and giving me the opportunity to ask questions of them. Thanks again Redwood Times for being there and documenting the meeting, Ed Voice (Nov 9, 2008 | post #1)

Go to the store and buy some earplugs - Redwood Times
Jason, Your letter to the editor is a great start for communication, and thank you. But, I do have a couple of comments to yours. First off, SHCP has money, how they want to use it and where is up to them, not anyone else. They sold 20 acres of land, from the Community Park for a cool million bucks not long ago, that should have paid for the park, their debt and anything else they wanted, but yet you don't talk about that. Only they don't have money. Go to their meetings and ask questions if you can, ask for paper work, follow the money. The events and concerts at the park are great, but not if your trying to get out from paying for a County Permit and public meetings, which they have known about from day one. If I started a boat repair shop, in my garage, worked and ran engines all day and night, without getting a business permit from the County to do so, and my house was next to your house, and you had your house years before I had mine, I don't think I could get you to buy ear plugs, or get you to leave your house just so I could make money. The way you shut me down, is make me get a permit. So you would call the County, just like I did. You need to ask and see the new plan for the Park. The SHCP Board is asking County Planning for a 6500 seat Concert Venue? 20 to 30 Concerts a year? Rezone alot of the land? I'm sorry, I don't want to live anywhere by that. My APN is included in their paper work, and that effect my property and home. Next time your in a SHCP meeting, ask them how many acres the Parks owns, vs how much do private people own of the Community Park. Ask to see the Plan submitted to the County and how they want to break up the land, and to who. I would never tell you what to do, but don't fall into their game & trap. Have a great one, Love and Live for that new baby. Ed Voice (Oct 2, 2008 | post #1)
Community Park Board responds to recent developments - Redwood ...
Thank you very much, Park Board. But maybe next time you can all sign your name. I look forward to your next open public board meeting. Could you please let us all know when all your regular meetings are held, and where? Ed Voice (Oct 2, 2008 | post #1)
Community Park board told to stop unpermitted events - Redwood ...
Thank you very much, Its about time someone looked into the truth about Non County permited events and concerts at the Southern Humboldt Community Park (SHCP). It is spelled **** -U-ME. This is the problem neighbors have with the Park, "do as I say, not as I do" SHCP picks who too talk with, and who not too give the time of day. I know, if you don't have any good thing to say, don't say it, but its time somebody did. If the SHCP thinks they can just walk all over their neighbors, without giving them any say in this matter, well we will see you all at the Planning Commission hears later this year, at least that SHCP event will be permited for a change. I also love the fact, when I asked the County years ago, if the SHCP had permits to hold their events and concerts, I am now labled a complainer. Call it what ever you want, if I had to do it all over again, I would have pushed it harder. If and when the SHCP is fined any amount of money for holding events and concerts without the proper permits, it should come out of the pockets of the board members, not the public funds they like to say they are making for the community.
