Arrest made in fatal Texarkana motorcycle wreck
Such a sensless death. I offer my condolences to Lizards friends & family. I can tell you that the suspect is better off in custody than at 'church'. (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #2)
You seem to be in a position to give details of the bomb threat. Since we are unable to copy the local paper, I would appreciate your information. Thanks (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #2)

SWEPCO's rates proposals are approved in Arkansas
Little Rock, AR - Southwestern Electric Power Co. has won regulatory approval for two rate hikes for its Arkansas customers. SWEPCO said Wednesday that a base rate increase in December will raise residential bills by 5 percent, or $3.84 for a customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month. A second increase will go into effect upon completion next summer of a 508-megawatt, natural gas-fueled power plant in Shreveport, La. To help pay for the $386 million plant, Arkansas customers will see an increase of 4¼ percent, or $3.17 a month for 1,000 kilowatt users. Say It On 7: Click Here to Comment on this Story Combined, SWEPCO customers will pay 9.41 percent more for electricity, or $7.01 per month for 1,000 kilowatt users. That comes to $84 per year. Question about utility deregulation / competition
This is an excellent question, and the only reason I have been able to find out is because the companies that service us are greedy. Would someone ask this question of our elected officials, please and get back to us with their answer. Thanks (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #5)
Happy Birthday, Scott Joplin, Ragtime Composer of a oeThe Enter...
I think he deserves more attention from Texarkana and that it would also boost tourism. I would like to see a monument in his honor in Texarkana. (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #2)

Train derailment will air on 'Most Daring'
Yes, of course your right. I would like to see the double cross arms like in Europe at our crossings. I also would like to see surface crossings phased out when its possible. (Monday Nov 23 | post #12)
Bomb Scare at Texarkana, TX Hotel
Hey, its good to know your keeping up! I did not think my training to be in question, but obviously someone does, so I will give a partial rundown. I have no formal bomb training, and dont profess to. I have been trained in various scientific fields....pesticid e application, herbicide application, radon measurement providor, mold remediator, and therefore I know more than a passing amount about hazards...... But the training I had as a hotel manager is what I would rely on when MANAGING a hotel. And if I found a left over item (which happened hundreds of times) I would attempt what is reasonable to find out the owner and return it to them. Once I saw something, anything, that indicated this was a bomb, I would call 911 and let the pro's take over. Thank you for the comment though. (Monday Nov 23 | post #6)
Bomb Scare at Texarkana, TX Hotel
Well, I used to manage a hotel and unless I found it in real suspicious circumstances, I would try to find out who it belonged to which may require opening it. (Sunday Nov 22 | post #3)
Train derailment will air on 'Most Daring'
The railroad uses the public ways through our fair town and puts our town at risk more ways than one. All crossings are dangerous and could and should be made more safe by the railroad. The reason they dont is because its cheaper to fight the lawsuit or pay when they kill someone rather than make the necessary changes in order to make the crossing safer. (Sunday Nov 22 | post #10)
Bobby Lockhart honest or crooked DA
And so they shall win. You seem like a person who has been around for a while and noticed how things work. Around here it seems that in order to be judge, one has to have carried water for the powers that be, or a respected if bumbling lawyer who has outlived his earning power but deserves a chance to "do the right thing". I heard of a Federal Judge who got appointed because among other things, he used to drive the Governor candidate around in the campaign, the Governor who became president, that is.
