As far as Filipinas go, I do quite well and have never set foot in a bar in the Philippines. Opinons are well and good but one should have at least basic knowledge of what he is talking about before he expresses one. I am American. No Fil prefix, lol. I stay in Pangasinan when in the Philippines. I agree with you that many FilAms do have a serious attitude problem. True, I am outspoken and don't give a damn if I offend someone. Really enjoy taking shots at some of the ungrateful FilAms that appear from time to time in the forum. Most of the people are nice and what I like about them most is their simple lives and most always see their glass as half full and never as half empty. Can you explain how all the poop and garbage got into the Pasig River? It is very apparent that one or two may not be following strict sanitary procedures while disposing of their waste. Most of these people do not want to live like this but what can they do? Informal settlers inhabit every municipality and city nationwide and it is virtually impossible for them to have adequate sanitary facilities. Even the schools lack this. Awhile back there was a news story about one school with only one cr and it was the poop and scoop type. The kids at that elementary school stand in line to go and one was asked what happens if it can not be held any longer. She said, "I pee on the floor."  (Nov 17, 2009 | post #1461)

When in the Philippines I stay in a rented house. Rent it year round. Don't need a maid, driver or houseboy. I can easily take care of all those duties myself. Never liked hotels. Tagbilaran is the provincial capitol of Bohol. Would like to go there someday and perhaps some other places there but not had the chance yet. Bohol would be a good trip. Would like to see those bigs eyes on the tarsier up close. You need to spend more time here to get a real feel of the country. Visaya, I believe you ran off the road and crashed on this one. I was inviting RDT to tell me of just one slum area in the U.S. that is as bad as the slum areas throughout the Philippines. He claims they are much alike and was I simply asking him to take a closer look and justify his statement. I am not critical or cruel. I have compassion for the millions who have to live that way. You are straight forward in your responses so may I ask you if the living conditions of the worst areas of Oakland or San Francisco are much like those in Payatas, Smokey Mountain or Tondo. Awhile back I heard a more specific number of guns unregistered in one province, lol. Pure speculation. Maybe more, maybe less.
