Health Care - New York, NY

You are mistaken. UNder the new plan people can't be denied for pre-exsiting conditions a major reason that most larger Insurer's are going under in NY. Thbe smaller insurers cherry pick companies with younger healthier workers and leave the other companies with the older workers that use more of their coverage or force them into using medicaid which you pay for. By forcing INsurance comnpanies to share the burden rates should come down. Saying in ths economic environment to just let things be as they are is not being realistic. The uninsured can't use their healthcare for maintenance. They end up waiting for a serious illness before going to Emergency rooms for care and then we ALL pay for the Urgent care (which cost the most).  (13 hrs ago | post #597)

Supreme Court refuses to halt Beltway sniper's execution

there was a recent NG or Disc. on the history of execution. They explained how over time, methods that were considered cruel because the person sufffered, were abandoned for more humane forms of execution. guilotine replaced beheadings since sometimes it would take more than one whack to get the job done... hangings amd cruxificions replaced things like public stoning...gas chamber replaced electric chair... now lethal injection is considered the most humane... too bad they can't try one of each on this guy . I know..... it would violate his rights  (13 hrs ago | post #18)

Giants talk back

if it was the same players for the past twenty years I would agree... It's a trap and why it's hard to win in NY. We like to talk like the lossses by the Richard Todd JEts of the 80's is linked to the losses of the Ken O'Brien Jets of the 90's and somehow apply to the 00's with 5-6 different Opening game starters in nine years. If we had shown some patience instead of trashing Brett (by fans and media) when 8-3 became 9-7 things could be different. THe team has given up 6 TD's without the Defense on the field and lost 3 games by a total of 11 points. That's the difference a veteran QB could have made. INstead we all said Brett was old and done... Sometimes so-called 'long suffering' Jet fans get what they deserve...  (13 hrs ago | post #1968)

Sox cut Varitek and gave Wakefield two year extension. I guess Martinez is now the everyday catcher... let the track meet from 1B begin..  (13 hrs ago | post #76087)

JETS TALK BACK

IN the eighties the local residents held protests on the grounds of Willets Point (the intended site for the stadium). They complained that they would lose their picnic areas and bike paths... like I said Reading comprension course are probably available at your college or University. good luck! fyi. Try doing some reading on Robert Moses. He's the one that told the Dodgers to take or leave it in the 50's. The Dodgers wanted to build at Flatbush and Atlantic, (where the Nets are building now). He wanted them in Flushing as he pushed Highways to Queens and L.I. Moses won and got the worlds' fair ini '61, Shea in '64 and the #7 train to stop there He also had delusions of grandeur... you should be able to relate ..  (14 hrs ago | post #3559)

H. steinbrenner made a great point in the WS postgame. He pointed out that what the YAnks did was to re-invest the money that came off the books for the contracts of Giambi, ABreau and a few others. No team has ever won with ALL kids that came up from the minor leagues since before the MLB draft started when they could sign any and every one they wanted. Look at the Rays most of that group came up together, took about 8 years to gell into a contender and then one year in followed by 3rd place. You need that mix. THe early Mets thru the 70's and early 80's stayed with just homegrowns for years and it showed. When they were maybe one or two OF bats away from contending because they already had the pitching, the best they could do for a power hitter was homegrown John Milner then later ex-MVP George Foster who never never hit 30 HR's with the Mets. I don't recall these mut fans squawking about homegrown players when the mets won with Carter, Hernandez, and WS mvp Ray KNight.  (14 hrs ago | post #76076)

don't know aboooot down under but up here homegrown means he was drafted by a team, promoted from the minors to the majors with that same team. Jeter, Bernie (and Gerald wiiliams), Leyritz, Petite all spent time here when we had the AA Albany Colonie Yankees. Petite was drafted in 1990 and made it to NY within a year of Jeter 95-96. 9 years, 4 WS followed by 3 years in Houston, doesn't take that away..  (15 hrs ago | post #76061)

JETS TALK BACK

It was only a Home field advantage while they had strong armed Namath at QB. They haven't had anybody close (and in their prime) since. I repeat the Mets were the primary tenants and complained about the OF being torn up for games in Spetember thru October (back when the Mets always played in October)  (16 hrs ago | post #3556)

there you go using facts to btw hoemgrowns: Wang and Kennedy and Ramiro Pena are all on the 40 man roster and contributed this year. I like our chances with CC, Burnett, WAng Petite, Hughes next year.  (16 hrs ago | post #76053)

they're already talking like they still think that Delgado, Beltran, Reyes and Wright are the core.... There is more wrong than a cagtcher and 2 pichers can fix.. releasing Putz was a start. after giving Ollie Perez $36 mil last year for three years, in what world do they get Halliday and two players for $50Mil??  (16 hrs ago | post #76048)

true for you and Billy. At some point I would think it's not enough that Walsh/D'anton aren't Isiah Thomas. Right now that's all they have going for themselves. The way thomas was demonized they probably get another years mileage out of it. If Thomas had turned over the team roster 3 teams last year and ended up with an 8th pick in the lottery who's not ready to contribute this year... I would say that the media would be showing less patience.  (Friday Nov 6 | post #75742)

I don't Shea was a real option. The Mets weren't crazy about playing on a torn up outfield grass in September thru October either and not much grass or sod is growing in NY in the Fall. If you ever sat in Shea in November, that wind whipping thru the open end was worst than old Rich stadium in Buffalo  (Friday Nov 6 | post #3554)

JETS TALK BACK

you should really try a reading comprension or an A.D.D. medication ... the guy said the Jets dedicated fans were in Queens and L.I. if you knew the history ... when the Dodgers threatened to leave NY unless Ebbets Field was replaced, NYC offered the marsh land that Shea stadium was built on in Willets Point. The Dodger fans base were in Brooklyn and those that took the bus and Subways to the game from Bronx, Manahattan and Queens. After the Jets won the SB they wanted their own stadium. At the time the Mets were playing into October every year (69-73). By the end of October the Outfield was dirt fore baseball and for football the exposed infield created a dust bowl... the local residents did not support the idea of losing Willets Point park to another stadium.... two years later the Jets followed the giants to New Jersey ... you really believe your mindless quips are insightful, huh? good luck with that!  (Friday Nov 6 | post #3552)

duncan is not on either the active nor 40 man roster... I doubt he needs to be asked for a number when he doesn't a job on the major team  (Friday Nov 6 | post #75705)
