Nigeria

Why are Nigerians so proud??

I'm np prophet of doom but I'll like you all to know that the West is gradually crawling towards an economic melt down. The US even wants to have a military base in Africa I suppose to protect oil interests which I'm sure African leaders will not allow.. Insult Nigeria all you like but I'll advise if you have Nigerian ancestry, secure a passport now. You'll need it very soon. Nigeria is on the way up and no matter what anybody says and no matter how difficult the climb is, nigeria will get there. Nigerians are expected to bow their heads in shame but they won't. Thats positive thinking. Lift your head to the sky ,Nigerians, and watch yourselves win. Their is nothig more honourable than a person who knows who he is, where he is from, what he is about and is proud of it. I don't want to be white nor pretend to be one. I am who I am, a Nigerian.  (Nov 20, 2007 | post #434)

Why are Nigerians so proud??

Victory is never won by cowaedice. Some people sacrificed their lives in the UK and US to make it so attractive to us all. As long as we live in fear, we will remain as we are. Who do you think would come and stand up for Nigerians but Nigerians?  (Oct 24, 2007 | post #417)

Nigeria

Why are Nigerians so proud??

People like Aina talk as if they are not the ones who make up Nigeria. Nigeria is made up of people and not just an entity. If we come out and say Nigeria is terrible, people like Aina will say we can talk because we are not in Nigeria. Now we say we are proud to be Nigerians yet they still say how can we talk when we are not in Nigeria. It's a no win situation. Whilte in Nigeria I had a few brushes with the police on minor driving offenses. Rather than "settle them" I chose to be taken to court and pay a fine to government. Will Aina do that or will he just settle? The lack of morality starts with the individual and then corrupts the Nation. Even here in the UK, when you have a Nigerian event, even at the airport, Nigerians always want to jump the queue and carry on shouting at evrybody that challenges them. Real noisy bunch. That has nothing to do with being in Nigeria, it's just a factor of the bad nature developed by Nigerians. Who has been the noisiest person on this forum, Aina, a Nigerian in Nigeria. Shame on you but I pray for the progress and development of Nigeria.  (Oct 4, 2007 | post #411)

Nigeria

Why are Nigerians so proud??

A quiet, not violent, revolution is essential. If you all choose not to accept certain leaders there is little they can do about it. Select your own leaders from the grassroots, with massive support, and kick out the criminal elite that has plundered our country. Make people answer for their crimes and don't celebrate rich criminals that are spending our money.  (Oct 3, 2007 | post #408)

How do you know what a civilised society should be when you have not been to one? You assume everything is perfect in foreign countries but you are wrong. The differnce between us and the West is that they appreciate each other from the poorest to the richest and I'm not talking about their government. Can you go to Sabo to eat with the destitutes? The white man can - so before you attack those of us who are here, check yourself, deal with the class society you live in then we can go on from there. When Nigerians are ready to appreciate and take care of their poor and underpriviledged, I'm not talking about government but people like you and me, we will continue to struggle to meet up with the West. Unfortunately for you, you can only see the problems created by the Nigerian government but you can not see how the West is influencing their actions. Maybe you need to come out of your little shell, face up to realities then you can know better how to deal with the situation back in Nigeria. We don't reject Nigeria, on the other hand, we respect and love the country. You should try it too.  (Oct 3, 2007 | post #407)

US SENATE ILLEGALISES OPEC

Thanks for that piece of information. It's strange why pride would cause the US to allow its citizens suffer. Are some people expendable? Every country owes but terms of repayment hurts Africa.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #8)

Why are Nigerians so proud??

I intend to be in nigeria next year as well to take advantage of the opportunities. Opportunities available that the Ainas can't see. I have many friends who won't leave Nigeria for anything. They are doing very well. I won't deny the corruption but until every Nigerian decides enough is enough ,nominate and vote in responsible people to government, not the theiving money bags, the problem will persist. There is a need for a revolution unfortunately the same Nigerians who complain about the country are the first to accept settlements and oppose any progressive move. Quite unfortunate.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #398)

Absolutely. I agree that WAEC is a sound examination. It is even tougher than the GCSE's offered in the UK yet poorly thought Nigerian students still pass it. That shows the intelligence available within the nation. On the other hand, Nigerians have been so demoralized they almost accept crime as normal. The government will rather spend on money spinning jamboree's than on education. It's such a shame.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #23)

US SENATE ILLEGALISES OPEC

It is just a shame. The US is looking for cheap oil in the middle east but have fallen into a quagmire. Now they move to OPEC to frustrate them. Many people have said it over and over again; Africa does not need aid except for places where there has been natural disasters. Even the US received aid for Katrina. Lobby your government to stop sending aid to rich countries like Nigeria. We need to use our resources for our own development. The stopping of aids releases Africa from the grip of the West. Your government knows that so they won't stop sending aid. They are even proposing a military base in Africa. I'm sure that would be unilaterally rejected across Africa. We are setting ourselves free if the West won't release us.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #6)

Nigerians are naturally brilliant, that does not mean the Nigerian education system is any good. I have experienced education both at home and abroad and I can say we have some way to go.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #21)

Vent your spleen as much as you like. It is your kind of attitude of not appreciating people for what they are nor for their achievements that is destroying Nigeria. What is your concern if people travel abroad? If you don't like it stay where you are. Many have come abroad, made good money and invested profitably in Nigeria. You benefit from these repatriation of funds as well so stop blowing off without thinking. If you want to live in your isolated little world, so be it. We are out here pushing for a fairer deal and an appreciation of Nigeria. Says a lot more for what people like you have done for the country. I see Nigeria as a land of opportunity and that is what it has been for me, you see it as a hell hole and that is what it is to you. M<ind you, I am still a permanent resident of Nigeria, not permanently resident in the UK and certainly not British.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #396)
