Celexa, Citalopram (generic)

Citalopram (Celexa) and Neurocardiogentic Syncope anyone?

My cardiologist just perscribed me 20 mg of Citalopram a day for my neurocardiogentic syncope (NCS) also known as vasovagal syncope or neurally mediated syncope. I do not have depression. I was wondering if any one else was taking citalopram for NCS and what to expect? I have near fainting episodes pretty much everyday, mainly in the shower in the morning. I am already doing everything else I am supposed to for NCS, drinking plenty of water, high salt diet, etc. etc. Any opinions on best time to take Citalopram if my worst episodes are in the morning? Any side effects? I just got diagnosed with NCS about a month ago and had my first tilt table test about a week ago. I was relieved to finally know what was wrong with me, especially after going to numerous doctors who didn't know what was happening. Any other comments about living with NCS would be appreciated.  (Oct 26, 2009 | post #1)
