If you want your daughter to have straighter, smoother hair I would suggest having a Japanese thermal, smooth control, Caribbean Dream Relaxer or Pravana Keratin Fusion. These are more permanent processes and with you daughter having healthy hair and if you find someone with a lot of experience, she should have beautiful, long lasting results. Hi Kathy, By what you say I would think that the treatment will work quite well on your hair. You did not say if your hair was thin or thick. It sounds like you take good care of your hair so the next thing would be to make sure that the person doing your "treatment " has experience. Even though doing these Keratin treatments does not need the same level of training and experience as a chemical straightening, i.e. Japanese Thermal, Relaxers, Fusions, there is still a learning curve and damage can be done. There are variables involved which can make a huge difference. The hair needs the proper amount of product, not too much, not too little and it needs the right amount of ironing with different heat settings. Denise (Thursday Jul 17 | post #888)

If you were my client, I would have chosen a more permanent process to do. If your hair is strong and healthy I do not think you are a good candidate for the keratin treatments, unless you want a small change and one that is not permanent. Many stylists are doing these treatments because they do not require the training and experience level of the permanent straighteners. When a client comes to me, we discuss ALL of the straightening options and make a decision according to their hair type, lifestyle and their needs. Find a hair straightening specialist. One who uses and is experienced in all forms of hair straightening. You will be able to find the best process for YOU. Then you will not feel you spent a lot of money for such a little result. For some, the Coppola Keratin and the Brazilian Keratin Treatment are absolutely wonderful. Others need a different type of process. I am shocked when I read a post where some stylist told the client that their products contain no chemicals. I am also very frustrated by the term "organic hair color". It is so deceptive. There is no reason to have any fumes go into ones face or into the clients face. I use a fume extractor and it removes any vapors from the air. I do not wesr a mask and my clients do not either. The iron temp should be 450 not 480. (Jul 2, 2008 | post #772)

Hi Lydia, The only ingredient you have to stay away from is "sodium chloride" and that is only in shampoo. Hi Najwa, Don't use the Johnson baby shampoo. Read the bottles in the store and find something that does not contain sodium chloride. I am sure there are many. Sodium chloride is not a necessary ingredient in shampoo. Do not use the Sun In. It will make your Keratin treatment wear off much faster. As a matter of fact, the stuff is very bad for hair. If you want lighter hair have a lighter color applied. When it grows out, only touch up the new growth. It is best to have coloring done before any Keratin Straightener/treat ment whether it is the Brazilian Keratin or the Coppola Keratin Complex.
