I can't believe you even tried to put Carlos Arroyo and his contribution to the Magic, in the same sentance as the contributions of Tracy, Armstrong, Shag, Penny, or even Grant Hill for that matter. Newspapers report whatever helps to increse their readership, just like T.V.stations report what best increases their add blacks than to report positive ones. Thats why we have channels like BET, to at least see a different images than what we see on a daily basis in the so-called mainstream press. Some people look at that as trying to have seperate stations, but in truth, its just trying to balance thing out. The normal mainstream media is unintentionally set up to report the news from a anglo standpoint. It may not be their fault, but thats just the way it is, so why is it that if there is one station on the dial that is devoted to blacks, that is looked on as bad. Why are all neighborhoods that are outside of the inner city or are more upscale, always called "White neighborhoods. " They are neighborhoods, with homes that anyone with the ability to pay for them can live. This a free country and we all live here together. When you enter a community, it doesn't say, "white community" or "Black community." Are you telling me that if its nice, it must be white or if its run down, it must be black? Don't get it twisted, it runs both way. Its not just a black problem, it a poor and uneducated problem. Whites make up a large number of the people on welfare, but of coures you and others like you fail to see that. As an educated, hardworking black man, let me tell you that the majority of blacks in this country are just like me. We work everyday to provide for our families and respect the rule of law, and want the same things that everyother person in this county wants. It is the small minority of the community that you see on the news and in the newpapers that gives the impression that they are black america. For you to say that our culture sucks is ignorant. The black culture in america is rich with tales of hardwork and sacrifice for eachother and has helped to make the United States what it is today, wheather you as a white person want to admit it or not. I will agree that some to the so-called black leaders in this country are quick to respond when whites do injustices to blacks, but more real black leaders are out there everyday doing all they can to be just as outraged when there is black on black crime. The problem is that those leaders are not feathered on the evening news because stories like that aren't as interesting as seeing a blackman in handcuffs. It is up to us in our own communities to do all we can to teach and mentor those who don't have. "Each one teach one" should be the rule of the day. But for whites to degrade us with the words that are on this sight each and every time a black man is pictured, does nothing but cause more and more hatered between the races. Please tell me, if every story of a white person who commits a crime was followed with all the comments that you read here, how would you feel about the other race. All this does is divide and does nothing to help. As far as you saying that all blacks who make it leave the hood and don't look back, well you really don't know what you're talking about. Alot of us are hear in the community everyday doing our part. Maybe if you were willing to set aside your racist statements and attitudes, you could see that alot of us are just like all of you. Please just try for once to not judge the actions of a few and paint a disparaging view of so many. Try educating yourself before you make these statements, thats all I ask.
