I'm trying to take a neutral approach to choosing news stories from the area; however, I am only human and so my opinions may show through, from time to time. I will also try to be active in the Maryville, TN forum.

Dell Latitude D610 - wandering mouse pointer?
Oh well. I only paid $100 for it anyway (hard drive in it was bad, but I had one that fit it so it was a pretty good deal), so 's not really worth it to me to replace the motherboard. I've just taken to using a spare mouse whenever possible. Still irritating that they've designed it that way. Thanks for the definite response. (Friday Jul 25 | post #11)
What is your thoughts on tattoos?
I don't want one, but I don't have a problem with them. It's not really my business how another person wants to look, after all. (Jul 9, 2008 | post #9)
AT&T plans $400 million investment in statewide cable
I'm not a fan of AT&T, but I agree with them on this issue. If companies like Comcast and Charter can use their cable network to compete with a phone company, why can't a phone company use their data network to compete with the cable companies? And yeah, there's also the fact that I'm tired of paying the utterly ridiculous prices that Charter is currently charging. (Jul 9, 2008 | post #3)
Maryville company promotes total tobacco ban
You've obviously not tried looking for a job lately. You make it sound far too easy. (Jul 7, 2008 | post #186)
Maryville company promotes total tobacco ban
I believe he was referring to smokers in general, actually, and it while it was certainly a generalization, in my experience it's an accurate one. I've got a two year old brother right now - my entire family (smokers, excluding myself) doesn't have a problem smoking in the same room as him, and they never have. They come up with excuses about how "oh, it's not really all that much" or "the window is open so it's all going outside". Then they wonder why the poor kid always has ear infections or a cough. I'm glad I'm not living with 'em for much longer. (Jul 3, 2008 | post #88)
Judge under judicial conduct review; officials, attorneys quest...
Conveniently timed article in the Daily Times, huh? Not that they've ever tried to avoid bias. As much as I think Meares should keep the job (and I do plan to vote for him), I don't think it'll happen. (Jul 2, 2008 | post #3)
D: Maryville newspaper makes earth-friendly change
http://www.blountl ibrary.org/service s.htm#comp The public library provides free access to a computer, and I'd be willing to bet they have printers as well, though printouts probably cost a certain amount per page. (Jun 8, 2008 | post #4)
Judge Says: No Special Access for Christians at School
There are so many problems in schools (in my opinion at least) because the parents have the attitude that school isn't really all that important, or that getting in trouble at school isn't really a big deal. Better that they hand out condoms (which they don't, locally) than have a bunch of girls get pregnant. That the teen pregnancy rate is higher in areas where they aren't easy to get is proof enough that teens have sex anyway. Evolution is fact. Get over it, and get used to it. It's not going away just like gravity isn't going away. If your beliefs are so fragile that a little bit of science threatens them then perhaps the problem is with what you believe. Tolerance isn't a bad thing. You don't have to agree with someone's lifestyle, of course, but so long as they're not asking you to date them I'm not sure why it should matter to you. (Or why it should even matter then - just explain that you're not homosexual. Easy.) As for that last... ...nature worship? ...you're being serious, right? Where did you come up with that one? Judge Says: No Special Access for Christians at School
Hopefully nobody has that sort of influence beyond the teachers (and they're, ya know, certified to teach, so it's not the same thing...). If you're talking about religious influence, the students' parents have as much influence as they ever did; this ruling didn't change that. (Jun 2, 2008 | post #5)
Sorry for the triple post, but that should be "cite" rather than "site". I used both words as part of a longer post but decided to change stuff. Too bad I deleted the wrong word. (May 28, 2008 | post #44)

Wi-Fi "Allergies" Prompt Calls for Ban
True, but the kinds of electromagnetic radiation the article is dealing with are harmless (And that includes the high voltage lines! The field on the ground simply isn't strong enough.) I don't think anything they have at home is causing symptoms, either. That doesn't mean that people aren't having symptoms, of course, just that the cause isn't what they think it is. And this is mostly unrelated to what you've posted, but The Register had a couple wonderful article about this almost exactly a year ago: http://www.theregi ster.co.uk/2007/05 /22/wifi_science_b unk/ http://www.theregi ster.co.uk/2007/07 /25/mobile_suffere rs_unaffected_by_t urning_kit_off/ Be sure to read the comments there, too; they're actually very interesting. Most of them. Others are in jokes related to the site, but that's the price you pay for allowing comments at all, right? (May 28, 2008 | post #76)
