2008 Presidential Election

Jon Stewart to Sarah Palin: "F* You"

Hello, Sara. Been a busy boy, doing the lakeside delivery route from Michigan to Wisconsin a few times a week, as well as getting a seriously good band together. Finally. Feel free to check us out (and see yours truly in all my chunky glory) at: http://www.faceboo k.com/pages/Beer-F or-Breakfast/22167 9799965 As I have mentioned before, I am having a bit of buyer's remorse in the wake of the 2008 elections, where I hoped against all logic that meeting the new Boss would not be the same as the old Boss. That, combined with the fact that the new regime has done much to further expose the depth and breadth of ignorance of my fellow Americans, who despise the Prez for all the wrong reasons (for example, they still believe he is turning us into a socialist country- which is absolute crap- when what he has really done is commit the even more heinous crime of appointing and retaining the absolute worst of the Bushco/ Goldman Sachs/ NY Federal Reserve criminals to continue siphoning away our treasury), has led me to conclude that no amount of logic and reason will help them, so therefore, I remain largely silent. Hope you and BH, and your families, have the best and most joyous of holidays...  (Saturday Dec 26 | post #7736)

THE RIGHTS OF ALL OF US MINORITYS

Speaking strictly for myself, I am not a "liberal ", especially in the way frequently slandered and misrepresented by the rightwing propaganda ministers of the corporate media. In fact, the greatest coup ever pulled off by corporate media, is convincing the stupid that there is some sort of "liberal bias" in its content. If I can honestly be said to hate anything, it is ignorance and malice, and the exploitation of the unfortunate by the fortunate. As far as government goes, I would favor an efficient system that addressed the core needs of society, rather than the corporate tyranny and this joke of a two-party system we have today. As far as Democrats and Republicans go, I can only quote former governor Jesse Ventura, who said, "American politics is alot like professional wrestling... They want you to THINK there are good guys and bad guys, but they're all getting paid by the SAME guy." Basically, if this nation has any hope of stopping this slide into fascism, which has been happening since 1913, We the People need to wake up, abandon our racial and religious stupidity, embrace education (as in, the acquisition of knowledge and facts, not the indoctrination of dogma and creed currently passing in both public and private schools), turn off the TV, and start to really explore the world they inhabit. The only difference between the ghetto and the trailer park is the trailer, people. And as soon as people realize this, they may stop hating each other and go after their real enemies.  (Friday Dec 25 | post #12)

Good morning, ladies! WTF happened to our peaceful, literate sanctuary? Well, it was nice while it lasted. Cannot keep the rabid purveyors of hate at bay forever, I guess...  (Nov 8, 2009 | post #7201)

Jon Stewart to Sarah Palin: "F* You"

Still here, sort of... This is the only name that I post under, when I post at all, which is admittedly not too often, anymore. I have grown entirely disgusted with American politics, and a very large portion of the American people as well, in recent months. I thought the ignorance, racism, and fear-baiting was at an all-time high in the months before the election, but I was completely taken aback by the intensity of those feelings since Obama took office. I cannot believe that my fellow Americans have devolved to such a shocking degree in the two generations that grew up in the post-Reagan years. These people are so fucking ignorant, that they cannot even write in fifth-grade English, yet they are convinced that they are political scholars. I would bet my left kidney that not a single one of them even KNOWS what socialism truly is, and further, I would bet my OTHER kidney that not a single one of them makes more than $40K per year. Watching them is very much like watching one of your friends get piss drunk at a bar, and then insist they are OK to drive, and then all angry and belligerent when you try to take their keys for their own safety, and that of everyone on the roads... That being said, the Dems, for the first time 60 years, have the White House and a filbuster-proof majority in Congress, and STILL, the needs of the working class American are ignored, while unemployment slowly climbs to Depression-era levels (let's not forget that the current "official " numbers reflect ONLY those who still have active unemployment claims; Those who did not qualify, or have expended their allotted benefits, or took on a part-time job just to keep the lights on, are not counted at all, and the REAL unemployment rate is hovering near 18%). Clowns to the Left of me, Jokers to the Right... Here I am... Hope you ladies (and your families) are doing very well! Until next time...  (Sep 3, 2009 | post #7025)

I STILL missed SJ's pic... I still pop in to check up on the thread, it's just that I only type nowadays when I have something relevant to impart. Been busier than usual for the last few months.  (Jul 22, 2009 | post #6935)

I saw that... Things are quite well out here. Our peppers would like a few more 80 degree days, but our potatoes are positively thriving. Good crop this year. Finally found a band I like out here, complete with a good drummer (an absolute must). Played my first gig with them after knowing them for all of three days, it went well! http://www.youtube .com/watch?v=le5MB t_YWVM&feature =related Upgrading my license to class A, a three week course, starting August 3rd. Brought my son out for a month or so to get a feel for the country life. He has discovered that he loves to fish. He also gets a kick out of deer strolling through the backyard every morning, and we were visited by a giant tom turkey last week. We also got to see our first ever Bald Eagles in the wild, a mating pair and two fledglings. There is a nest about 5 miles away from here, which of course is seeing an ungodly amount of traffic since word got out. Which brings me to my conclusion, which is this: I often wonder how much different this world would be if everyone knew and practiced moderation... Hope you guys are well, and since BH finally got the nerve up to post a pic, maybe SJ will follow suit and bring hers back!  (Jul 20, 2009 | post #6903)

Still alive, just too frustrated trying to explain things to those who cling to ignorance like Linus clings to his blanket. Hope all is well.  (Jul 13, 2009 | post #6879)
