Vandals cut trees in St. Paul park
If they had really meant St. Paul Park, the Park would have been capitalized. Since it wasn't, it was referring to a park in St. Paul. St. Paul Park is near Cottage Grove. English lesson is over. Merry Christmas! (Thursday Dec 24 | post #38)
Vandals cut trees in St. Paul park
I think you need to pay closer attention or perhaps read more than just the headline. It was in a St. Paul park, but it was not in St. Paul Park. Merriam Park Recreation Center is the actual place in St. Paul where it happened. (Saturday Dec 19 | post #34)
Suspect shot after BMW swiped from Trompeter's house
I take great joy in telling of you who made assumptions that the suspect is white. (Tuesday Dec 8 | post #65)
Twin Cities renters less willing to tolerate secondhand smoke, ...
Maybe if you tried to actually make a point someone might be persuaded but as Tom Van Putten did, all you do is call names. Show some sign of intelligence, please. I'd love to go outside to breathe clean air but there are too many smokers standing in the doorways and throwing their butts all over the sidewalk. (Nov 29, 2009 | post #8)

Can't use your words to make a point? Calling people names does nothing to further your cause. I can't even decide what you think about the issue. Are you calling the smokers crybabies? Or making a joke about non-smokers? (Nov 29, 2009 | post #7)

It also used to be that people were respectful to each other. They could mind their own business because others understood a bit about politeness and manners. We also have come a long way in education about tobacco and have been able to push back against the big companies that produce cigarettes. I love the smoke free restaurants/bars where I can go have a meal/drink and come out without needing a shower. It's perfectly acceptable for you to smoke but do NOT make me smoke along with you. I've felt this way for 40 years. Even as a young child I used to blow out my parent's matches as they tried to light up. (Nov 29, 2009 | post #2)
Have you seen this man skimming credit card numbers?
You must never travel. It's very difficult to travel even within the US without a credit card if you want to rent a car. (Nov 19, 2009 | post #40)
2 men charged with sexual attack on woman in elevator
Why did the person with the key card call the police immediately? "The woman told police that eventually a resident with a card opened the front door and she ran inside, with the men close behind her." It must have been fairly obvious that something was wrong. I can't imagine just walking away from that activity. My thoughts are with her as she tries to move past this trauma. (Oct 23, 2009 | post #46)
Morris family house update: Take it, Ty! The exterior is done
Do you watch the show? I can tell that you don't because it's not true. I can think of multiple white families right off the top of my head. Stop trying to stir up trouble where there is none. Get out and volunteer. You might learn something. (Oct 18, 2009 | post #12)
Morris family house update: Take it, Ty! The exterior is done
You are all missing the point of the show. It's not just that someone has a hardship or physical disability but despite adversity they are still giving back to their community. The people featured are givers. They don't spend their time sitting around and asking "Why me?" or "Why not me?". Get out and volunteer. It will give you an amazing perspective on your own life. Build up some good karma. You never know what good might come your way. Welcome home Morris family and enjoy your new home. (Oct 11, 2009 | post #5)
West Side family's home chosen for 'Extreme Makeover'
I'm curious about where you heard that they are in foreclosure. Is this a fact or just a word of mouth statement that may have started with someone who was jealous? There is no legal posting that I could find indicating the house is in foreclosure. Much of the room in the new Morris house is for the daycare. Too bad you weren't there volunteering to see how much she was doing with so little. Try doing a little giving in your own life. (Oct 6, 2009 | post #115)
West Side family's home chosen for 'Extreme Makeover'
Rather than spewing hate, it sounds like some of you need to get out and volunteer more. It's amazing how good it feels. My house could use new front and back doors but they're not in the budget yet. Instead of whining about "poor me" I went over last night and volunteered on site. We packed up the family's belongings in preparation for the demo. If you smile and help others in your life, you quickly learn that you are not as bad off as you think you are. That's what Sandi has been doing for years. (Oct 3, 2009 | post #72)
Highland Trader Joe's looking lonely
Well you definitely are a sideshow, aren't you. I don't need to drive it. I live in the area (despite the Minneapolis designation on previous posts - topix would change it whenever I set it to the correct location of St. Paul) and understand that not everyone takes the same route to get places. Anyway, Labor Day is almost here and we get to see the chaos in action at that intersection. When you add a couple of school buses to that intersection it really adds to the adventure. Highland Trader Joe's looking lonely
Well Bob, not everyone is coming from the same direction as you are. And I guarantee that there are people headed to St. Kates on Randolph. If they are coming from Eagan or Apple Valley, it's a pretty direct route. Exit 35E at Randolph and up the hill and across. Fairview is great if you're coming from Bloomington or Richfield. Cleveland can be problematic if you're heading north and have to go through the Village. (Aug 5, 2009 | post #70)
