Maine's referendum on gay marriage law is too close to call
OMG - I just about fell out of my chair reading this post. I'm sure you're on those holding drills against the onslaught of gay marriage like we used to hold drills in school against nuclear attack. oh, and Obama's death panels? Another radical right-wing lie designed to stir up the masses. You guys sure are good at lying - and then you talk of morality. LOL (22 hrs ago | post #405)

Well, I'm obviously bigger than you because I believe ALL citizens deserve the same rights. You have to make yourself bigger by believing you are somehow superior. And, I've addressed your posts over and over. Sometimes you just have to recognize that some people have such a hardened heart and closed mind that nothing can EVER be discussed logically with them. You'd have a better change making a brick wall as soft as a feather bed. So, my swearing at you wasn't to make me a bigger man - but to show how much I dismiss you as a decent human being. Have a good life in your hatred for your fellow man. (22 hrs ago | post #172)
What do you think of homosexuality?
WE'RE not coherent? Have you read your own posts? They are basically the ramblings of a mad person. You don't complete thoughts. You don't use complete sentences. Your mind obviouosly races from one hateful thought to another in such a way that you can't even put them into a logical stream. Yes, somebody on this board needs to see a shrink. But, I think that would be you. Your writing style definitely screams of unbalanced. (23 hrs ago | post #107)
Maine's referendum on gay marriage law is too close to call
Did society vote on inter-racial marriage? No, it was decided by the court. If left to the people, they will always disenfranchise those who they deem lessor than themselves. And your comments prove that. Certain things SHOULD be voted on by the people. Civil rights is not one of them. (Saturday | post #393)

And you don't think the sides that lost prayed? Please. What about the civil war which is when the phrase was adopted. Both sides prayed to the SAME God... so how did he decide which side to bless? And, if you'd really pay attention to history, the time the slogan was adopted was during the cold war - the communist hysteria. So, people would have done anything that would have been the direct opposite of communism. Of course, then - as now - the so-called Christians black-listed and ruined many lives needlessly. Yep, that's sure something to be proud of and it worked so well for our nation. There is truly non so ignorant as those that won't learn from the past. And you are definitely one of those. So, you just enjoy your time of gloating now because people are waking up and soon your kind will go way of the antique. (Saturday | post #89)

Well, civil marriage should not give preference to ANY religion, nor strive to recognize a religions beliefs. So, when talking about civil marriage, it is not recognizing Christian, Muslim, Mormon or any other religion. Civil marriage is basically a contract, which is between two people. In order to allow polygamy, not only would civil marriage need to be changed, but a large host of other laws. Tax laws, inheritence laws, family laws etc, since they are all based on the two person contract philosophy. Now, that being said, at the moment gays haven't achieved equality for THEIR marriages, so why would you expect the energy to be expended on others? It has nothing to do with us being AGAINST those people, as we aren't actively fighting them either. It's a matter of resources - and we're spread pretty thin right now. (Saturday | post #169)

Oh, I love how people use "In God We Trust" as one of our founding mottos to show this country was founded on God. You do realize that this phrase wasn't even uttered until 1864 due to the politics at the time. Why, that's around 200 years from the Pilgrims and about 100 years after our battle for independence. The phrase wasn't adopted officially until the late 1950's. Just another example of an uneducated fundie spewing lies. (Saturday | post #83)

Really? Way to jump to conclusions. They were 9, 6 and 5 when I came out. I would call that childhood, wouldn't you? This is the whole thing about your side... you make assumptions you no absolutely nothing about. (Saturday | post #233)

Well, I don't know what church you go to, but I can pretty much guarantee if you put it to a vote that that was the ONLY church people could go to it would also get defeated. The majority thinking a particular way doesn't make it right. You know what. You're a f*cking tool and I'm pretty much done with you. You'll never listen to anybody else. You pretty much think you are God Almighty himself. So, just go right on believing that. But before too long, you yourself will fall right in line with your definition of perverse. Now try to figure that one out, d*ckhead. And, no, I don't usually swear at people and call them names. There's just something about your "christlike " attitude that brings it out in me. I think you causing that is a sin, right? (Friday Nov 6 | post #160)
Off the Deep End: It's an issue of equality
That's why I tend to use the terms Fundie, Fundamentalist, Right-winger and christian (not capitalized. When I capitalize I'm referring to those who I feel truly follow the teachings of Jesus, which is just my opinion). These categories can include any political affiliation, any faith etc. It's a matter of attitude and action, not how a person identifies themselves. There are many Republican, Conservative, Christian who are extremely fair minded and who are equally appalled at some fundies actions. So, I wasn't lumping you into any groups! Hope that clears it up. (Friday Nov 6 | post #50)
U.S. fights benefits for gay couples
I love the "forcing your lifestyle on me against my beliefs" comment. I've heard it so many times, but it's still amusing. Are you saying somebody forced you to have "relations " with the same sex? Did somebody force you to get a marriage to the same sex? Maybe they forced you to get out of your recliner and go participate in a pride parade? Exactly HOW have you been forced? Oh, I know.. it's just the fact that people DIFFERENT than you exist. Right? By you having to share this country with them, that's forcing it on you. By them not staying hidden in the shadows, trembling at the thought they will be discovered, they are "forcing " it on you. So, basically, everybody out there - straight, gay, married, single, christian, non-christian, immigrant, descendent of immigrants, boys, girls, teachers, doctors, lawyers, indian chiefs - they are ALL forcing their lifestyle on others. Right? (Friday Nov 6 | post #198)

Actually it WASN'T "status quo" in all 31 states. Status quo is keeping things as they are with no change. In CA and ME gay marriage was legal. Hence, it was status quo. Now, on to the brutality. So, I'm guessing you think if a parent does no physical harm to their child, yet never shows love, compassion etc. Never acknowledges them or speaks to them and always excludes them from the family, that that's not brutality? You seriously can say that brutality only exists in physical harm? (Friday Nov 6 | post #155)

Not sure who you are asking, or why, but I'll answer for you. 1. Not at all. There are some people who are married but never went through a holy matrimony ceremony and don't even believe in holy matrimony. Yet, our state has no problem in defining them as married. On the other hand, there are some couples who have gone through holy matrimony, or as some call holy committment, ceremonies through their faith of choice, but are not recognized as married by the state. These would be many gay couples - but I also know of some straight couples who have done this out of alliance with gays. You then have a third category. Those who are married, as recognized by the state, and when through holy matrimony. These would be those couples who got married in a church ceremony. 2. Absolutely not! Just as I don't think somebody's faith should dictate the law of the land, I don't think the law of the land should dictate somebody's faith. Just as today I think it's just and fair that a clergyperson can deny marrying a couple because he doesn't think they are ready, they are inter-faithed, or any number of reasons. I may not agree with their decision. I may personally think it's narrow minded. But, I would never say they don't have a right to it and to administer their duties as a clergy based on it. Now, don't confuse that with a Justice of the Peace or a Judge of the Court. They are a public servent and are required to only preside according to the laws of the land. (Friday Nov 6 | post #154)
People: Sex tape forced Carrie Prejean to settle pageant lawsuit
Don't get me wrong. I didn't base my opinion of her on her answer to the question. I even told my partner that people had no rate to get mad at her or rate her down because of how she felt. Now, she should have been rated down because of the way she hemmed and hawed and worded her response - but not in the content. She was asked her opinion and gave it. And, yes, Perez was a total scum for calling her names and I don't blame her for responding to that. However, she then ALLOWED herself to be used as a pawn. She attended anti gay marriage rallies to drum up support for Prop 8. She made appearances on news programs and basically set herself up as a political commentator on morality. She blatantly ignored her duties under contract so she could continue her rants against gay marriage in forums that would get her noticed. It is for the latter actions that I think this attention for the sex tape are justified. (Friday Nov 6 | post #144)

Oh, I recognize that answer! Only I always heard it as "I'm rubber and you're glue" Let me guess, you're about 12, right? You have the M.O. of a 12 year old. When asked hard questions, you just make smart aleck comments. (Friday Nov 6 | post #68)
