Oh, I agree 100%! When my father died, his one day obit with his picture was over $400, but my mom wanted a "big" obit for dad, she felt she was honoring him. Still, $400 is crazy! (Yesterday | post #2)

Archway Cookies closing in Battle Creek
I would love to live in Tennessee! I have heard the weather is wonderful, and yes, the economy is good. Perhaps I will look into that. Thanks Penny! I am sure there is a neonatal intensive care unit somewhere in your area where I could work, as this is what I do. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #24)

I love Archway cookies, but because of this latest from them, I am boycotting them. I can make my own! (Saturday Oct 4 | post #23)

GRPS warns teachers: don't strike
If the GRPS teachers strike, we might be in for a very long strike. I also personally think Bernard Taylor should lower his salary - he sure is not worth what he makes! He makes almost as much as the president of the United States makes, and no superintendent is worth that much. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #236)

OJ Simpson is unfortunately, a loser. I hope they sentence him to many years, if not life in prison. It's about time he pays for what he knows he did 13 years ago. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #12)

Kyle Keenan's mom remembers her son
Kids can still make the wrong decisions, despite their upbringing. Kyle was raised at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, which is an extremely wonderful church here in the GR area with great leadership and a wonderful, well known pastor (Rev. Clifton Rhodes, Jr). I am sure you've heard his name time and again. I go to a different church and am of a different faith, but still........as well, Kyle's father is a deacon in that church, so pray tell me, kids can still make poor decisions no matter their upbringing. A friend of mine who is the senior pastor of a church has a son who got involved in drugs and was heavily involved in drugs for many years. It wasn't that pastor's fault this happened - his son made poor choices for himself. So please, do not blame the Keenan parents for the decisions Kyle made himself. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #24)

Man wanted for murder of GR teen
How about we let this particular Topix post die and go by the wayside? Both of these young men are now buried and gone out of our lives, time to move on and heal. Plus if both mothers continue to see this post in here, (if they even get in here), it can continue to hurt both of them. It's time to move on and heal. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #453)

I am so sorry for the one who did not come home. These precious infants are so beautiful and they are strong fighters, but sometimes they just don't make it. I feel God's presence every day in my little area of Northern Michigan Hospital. Sometimes I wish someone would invent a womb type incubator that we could connect these little ones to, so they can continue to grow and get strong. I hate putting needles in their soft fragile skin and veins, and putting ventilators down their tiny little throats. It hurts, but I love my job and wouldn't trade it for anything! But the successful ones are awesome, and when the parents bring them back to visit and they are strong, healthy babies that "look normal", it's all worth it! (Friday Oct 3 | post #151)

Oh yes! I work in a high risk neonatal intensive care unit and unfortunately, a lot of those precious preemie babies die. These are the extremely sick ones. Like I've said before, Heaven must be loaded with little kids. God bless all of you who have lost a precious little one to miscarriage, neonatal death, premature death, stillbirth, any of those, as well as chromosomal abnormalities, which sadly, we are seeing more and more of. This is aging me, but oh well. I like that song called "I Fought The Law" and I can't remember who sang it! Some of the words are: "I fought the law and the law won........" (Friday Oct 3 | post #25)
